    Re: Wet glossy finish..

You start out by evaluating your car's finish, determine what if any defects the paint has, this will tell you what you'll need to remove the defects, (if any), and then work the surface to a clear, smooth finish. That's the secret to a wet glossy finish, removing the defects and then getting the paint as smooth and clear as possible.

    What are you working on?
What condition is the paint when viewed under bright light?
How do you do your work? By hand or machine? If by machine what kind of machine?

And since this was your first post here, welcome to Meguiar's Online!

What color is the car? After you're done working out the scratches, I'd put on some NXT Tech Wax.

Black, you may find these articles helpful:

Using the G-100 to remove swirls with the Professional Line

Tips & Techniques for using the G110, G100, G220 and the PC Dual Action Polisher

You definitely will want to purchase #80 and #83. #80 is Meguiar's go-to product for D/A polishers. As far as pure polishes (e.g., #7 and #81), you may find that they are unnecessary and redundant. #80 is rich is the same polishing oils that #7 contains.

I should point out that Meguiar's is releasing in 2009 some new D/A-approved polishes that could be used instead of #80 and #83. I do not know if you would want to wait until they are available in Singapore.

            Hope this helps.

            Cheers,
            Al

              Re: Wet glossy finish..

Evaluate the surface, do a test spot to see if M80 will indeed remove all the defects (if there are) in the surface

The point to get a nice wet look, high gloss finish is to prepare and get it to be as clear as possible, and clear will indeed come by removing the defects from the finish and putting oils back into the finish

If you really want a nice glossy finish, I would definitely use a pure polish! good luck

                Just remember one thing........
True, long lasting depth and gloss come from polishing the paint and not just waxing it.

You should not be able to tell a huge difference from when you polished your paint and after you have protected it.

There's tons of info here. Just ask away.

Pure polish has no abrasives so no scratches/swirls will be removed. You will fill them and it will help the gloss but you will not get the clarity of a swirl free finish. You will need an abrasive compound/polish to remove these defects.

                    Here are few examples.......

The key to get the best looking finish is your preparation before waxing. Do the test spot and then evaluate. Good luck.

What's available to you in the auto parts stores where you live in Singapore?

Check some of your local auto parts stores and see what kind of selection they have for paint cleaners.

Just to clarify, are you referring to the Flex XC3401 VRG Orbital Polisher

Some people have good luck with M80 and this tool and some don't two factors that will play heavily in your success will be technique, pad choice and paint type.

Stick with a polishing and/or finishing pads with this tool for your black paint maybe see if you can find a way to get some M105 and M205. M105 may be available in your country, you'll have to do some checking. M205 is just starting to ship this week here in the United States so in order to get some before your local distributor is stocking it you're going to have to do a little more work.

Another option besides M80 and the above two products would be ScratchX and even ColorX as both of these have cleaning ability and finish out real nice.
