  • Waxing my Tool Chest!?!

well now that the winter months have come about i don't get in much detailing because of how impractical it would be. I do my paint very well before the snow and once throughout the months.
So now what do i do i am having carnuaba withdrawal!!!!
I am looking at my toolbox and it has had better days
i feel it has the potential to show off its black finish.
it has a single stage paint on it.
I was considering using a compound on the surface till all scratch's are gone
    Then #9
    Then a polish #7
    Then #26
    Then 2 coats of NXT
I will be applying the products with a DA
    Any Suggestions/comment/concerns/ANYTHING!?

How thick is the paint? Might not want to be too agressive.

I agree, but Craftsman and Snap on et al are pretty good.

I think Mac tools has their own wax for their tool boxes or is it Snap On? can't remember.

I polished out the box for my drill set, it was black and a couple coats of NXT and it looked awesome!

I used M40 on my Rally 3 drawer Craftsman box, the wrinkle paint finish, looks good! LOL.

M09 is a very light or gentle cleaner/polish but just the same, either by hand or machine you should avoid buffing directly on top of any hard edges.

            Re: Waxing my Tool Chest!?!

            Thanks guys for the input
for the record its a MasterCraft Maximum Black 41" Euro Chest
Well it is going to take me a while to do the whole chest.
i am going to try and get some pics up

I have started to compound the surface and find a fairly aggresive compound with a polishing pad gives me good results
I go over it twice and find that still the deep scratch's show but i haven't moved to a cutting pad because i don't want to mar the surface.
The paint seems to be fairly thick and hard and its a single stage paint.
Will a cutting pad mar the surface and if it does what should i do to get rid of it. i am sure there is links but i need to look.
I was also wondering what is applied to the surface first #26 or #21
So what would be better to use #26 or #21 or NXT or Gold Glass i have all for what would you suggest? Open to all suggestions

              Re: Waxing my Tool Chest!?!

I've done my Craftsman tool chests quite a number of times. I usually just use Meg's one-step cleaner/wax.
