  • Problem with colors

Hello, I'm from Poland and I've removed bars from both sides of my car, i found out marks in those places (brighter color on photos)

    How can i repair/remove them?

I've used DC#1, ScratchX and ColorX...... nothing changed.

So, I decided to use a heatgun.. it's extremely effective.

Anyway, Thanks for Your answer Mike!

    Re: Problem with colors

By the word bars do you mean some kind of trim or emblems?

if so, sometimes these types of things will leave the paint imprinted from where they were attached. Some people call this Ghosting.

Sometimes this can be visually corrected by cleaning and polishing the affected area either by hand or machine. If the problem is on the surface, that is topical then you can usually fix it. If the problem is the color coat underneath the clear layer of paint has faded then there's nothing you can do to fix it because the problem is under the clear layer of paint.

If this is a single stage paint and the problem is fading then you can probably fix the problem by cleaning and polishing the affected area either by hand or machine.

Look in your local auto parts store for either ScratchX or Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner and pick up one or the other and then test it out on an affected area by applying it with a clean, soft foam applicator pad.

Just apply to a small section about 8" to 10" inches square or so and rub it firmly but carefully against this test section for about a minute. Repeat a few times and then inspect to see if you're fixing the problem or not and let us know what you're seeing.

Do you have access to any machine polishers?

        Same vehicle?

Anyway, it's great that the heatgun corrected the problem.
How about sharing your procedure. Did you just use heat with a product to change the way it worked.
Maybe your use of the heatgun was for removal of adhesive rather than taking care of the difference in the paint color.

Thanks for the follow-up, we need to get you down to just one forum account as having 2 accounts is against not only our forum rules but every forum I've ever been on.

I've merged your two posts and deleted your second account.
