bought a PC 7424, need help

hey guys, I have a black 2000 Ford Lightning and I just ordered a Porter Cable 7424 on Friday... i should have it be end of the week... im gonna spend all weekend and DETAIL my truck...

because its black and 4 years old... there are swirl marks and fine scratches all over it. I am faithful at washing it at least once a week, but I do not wax very often. I think Iv only done it a few times... its just a pain to do it by hand... last time it took my like 4 hours to wash and wax with just one coat

anyway, I was using a product called Zaino, but heard its too synthetic for the PC... iv always heard good about Meguiers... so im here to ask..

with the help of the PC how can I make my truck look better than new???

i need to know which products to get.. .thanks

any tips on using the PC also??

well the PC only came with one foam pad, so Im gonna have to order a few more... where is a good place for that??

also, are there any microfiber pads to slip on there to remove the waxes??

I always get everything from Meguiars 800 number, they have great customer service and will help you solve any problems you might have with your paint, I am not to sure where else you can get them. I always apply polish and wax with the SOFTBUFF™ Finishing Pads they are the least agressive and cleaners with SOFTBUFF® Foam Polishing Pads.

Get some Ultimate Bonnets, these things rock! I just got a couple and used them for the first time on the detail that I have posted above. I only use them to remove the NXT wax but they do it with ease and leave and even better shine!

Someone else might chime in on this one I am not to sure... I do know ScratchX should not be applied with the PC.

1. get the pad kit here (9006, tan for finishing, 8006, 2 yellow for polishing), cheaper vs. buying separately.

2. Ultimate Bonnet is also available here (to slip over the pad for removal)

3. #82 (Professional line) is OK to use with a PC, slightly more "aggresive" vs Scratch X (officially not for PC use)

Thats the best "deal". I would not use the Pad that came with your PC (if its the white Porter-Cable brand).

If you'd like a demo to increase your comfort level, let me know. I'm near I20 and 360. I'd be happy to show you on my vehicle if it helps. I recently clayed and applied the Deep Crystal Paint cleaner with my PC. It sure is alot easier on the elbows and shoulders when not doing it all by hand.
