Well it's actually yellow but I don't have a macro lens and the flash makes it look white. But this shows up a lot when I'm driving around but usually since I wash once a week, there isn't as much and it comes off easier.
Don't be afriad of claying...using the smooth surface clay and a good amount of Quik Detailer or other lube, there really isn't any way you can damage the paint. Just use a good amount of lube and clay away.

Do you see this on any of the cars in the area you park your car either at home or anywhere else you park the car?
If it's happening all the time you should see it on other things in the location where it's happening.
My dad's car (also black) gets it too and he doesn't park anywhere near where I park (besides the garage). He had at least a hundred of those "spots" before he washed. He's not as much of an "enthusiast" of paint care as me (although he does care) so I think he probably just makes a few passes and presses to remove them during a car wash. It must be a San Diego thing.

Two things come to mind: 1.) Do you have an old wood garage/rafter? As in, not plywood but beams of wood or 2x4s? I have seen cases where the wood can bleed sap out in garages, but it is odd that you are experiencing this during the winder- it usually occurs during hot summer months.
2.) Living in San Diego I do also notice that I sometimes get little splotches of stuff on my paint, but I can't decide if it is bird droppings from a small bird, or some type of pollen. Sometimes it is round, sometimes fairly skinny. The color is usually similar to a dark mustard. Thing is, though, these wash off extremely easily for me, although they occasionally leave mild stains which come off with a cleaner wax.

This is also true for me...just sitting the car in the school parking lot for 6 hours will give you plenty of the little buggers. Mine come off after a wash as well.

I 3rd(?) that. My car sits outside 24/7 and can't stay clean for more than a few hours. Whether its downtown San Diego, the La Jolla/UCSD area, SDSU area, or even home.
