  • Need Advice on Scratched/Scraped Bumper

Would appreciate any opinions on the best way to attack a scratched/scraped rear bumper (not dented). I figured I would first cover up the small areas where the paint was scraped down to the plastic with some touch up paint. For the scratches, I was thinking maybe some #80, but am thinking that it probably won't be agressive enough (don't have any #83 on-hand). Would wet-sanding then #105, followed up with #80 be a possibility or is this overkill? Not expecting to make it like new, just tone-down the scratches so they aren't as noticeable. Have a DA, but no rotary.

    Thanks for the help.

Little hard to see in the pictures, but I think your best bet would be a good washing followed by M105 by HAND with a foam applicator. Don't be afraid to push either. Give that a few passes and re-assess.

You may or may not need to follow with M80 or scratchX after the M105- varies case by case.

If that doesn't work, you can alsways try light wet sanding, but odds are if a few passes of M105 by hand with passion don't do it then it might be a little too deep to be worth chasing.

Give it a shot and take some new pics for us

I would also go the #105 route. It looks like a couple of passes by hand with some passion (elbow Grease) and the majority if not all should be taken care of. Just remember to give the area a waxing after you are done. Good luck.

Mark, JA - thanks for the advice. I kinda thought this would require #105 level agressiveness, but wasn't sure. I'll use a little "passion" and see what happens. Will have to wait until I can get the new #105 though.

        (Sorry for the poor pics.)
