  • What product to use ?

This car has been respray at least 7 years ago but the paintwork wasn't perfect.

What i know was the owner requested the painter to spray 'thicker' clear coat and all these year the paint was threated with many types of different product and tool (face towel, dish washing sponge and etc) all by hand...

I would pressume this is a hard clear coat.

I have tried using RB with M80,82,83 with W8006/W9006 + M86 with Makita wool yet can only 'lighter' the RDS ( i pressume this RDS )..different combination

Lastest test was D151 with W8006 lastnight, result improve (maybe due to the wax reflection) but yet swirl still everywhere.

I have got about 16oz of M105 + LC PFWool..which i am yet to try.

PS : I also have approx. 16oz of M85 ....which yet to use

Wondering how do i solve this 'issue', or do i wet sanding ? The micron is around 100-140+-

Do a test spot using the rotary buffer with your wool pad with the M105 on a section about 16" square. Set the RB to 1500 rpm

Start with firm pressure for 4-5 passes, then medium pressure 4-5 passes then lighten up for 4-5 passes.

Report back here what kind of results you see.

There's a lot to be said for skill, technique and experience when it comes to getting good results from any process whether it be by hand or machine and type of machine, that is to say not just anyone can apply a product and get the maximum results from the product if they don't have the expertise to properly work the product.

That said, M105 with a wool pad worked properly should show you a dramatic reduction in at least the light swirls and scratches while creating a clear, glossy finish.

This assumes you do at a minimum a half way good job and at best you do a pretty good job.

If you don't see these kinds of results then this would be an indicator that as you stated, the paint is hard or very hard or at least what we would categorize as not very polishable.

At this point it might be a good idea to get a second opinion and by this I mean it might be a good idea for us to try to find someone in your area that is an experienced and seasoned Pro when it comes to paint correction to take a look at this finish with you and just as a means of troubleshooting see if there's anything they can do that you might be missing.

Not to say that you don't know what your doing at all, it's just sometimes when you come across a problem paint system it doesn't hurt to get another set of eyes to take a look at it.

By the way, what is this you're working on?

      Is this someone's prized possession?
Is this a daily driver grocery getter?
Is this a wood hauling trailer?

Is it a top priority to create a show car finish or after 7 years of passing time are you just honing you skills with the rotary buffer on something that no one will care about if a mistake is made?

How about a BIG picture, something that shows a profile shot of the entire thing, whatever it is you're working on?

What are you charging to buff this out?

This is an example of a good Profile Shot, it shows the reader what it is you're talking about. The front, back, bottom and top of the vehicle are all completely in the picture, nothing is cut off. Sometimes you have to back up to get the entire vehicle into the shot depending upon your camera.

Hi Mike, Thank you for your speedy reply and suggest. I shall try with M105 and LC PFW.

This is my old junk, coming 20 years old. The car been expose to sunlight and acid rain since it respray (i bought it 2nd hand)...

Only a year back i moved to a house which have car porch.

This is how the car look under sunlight, even with heavy swirl, the surface still bead quite well.

The sides look good, is it just the horizontal surfaces that need correction?

Let us know how your test spot goes...
