  • Swirls Already

I did a full detail back in September for the coming hunting season. Wash, clay, 80, 83 and 2 coats NXT 2.0. I always use the two bucket method but it's minus the grit guards.

3 months later, I've already got swirls in my paint. I try to keep it wiped down with UQD during the week and have been successful at doing so. It's a daily driven BLACK Silverado.

Something I'm just going to have to live with? Obviously, I can't do a full detail every 3 months since it takes a full weekend.

Well, some paint swirls if you look at it funny.... so I guess stop looking at it funny.

But it is a good idea to make sure you are using the proper tools as well. Good quality mitts, towels to wash, I would recomend at least one Grit Guard, using the proper soap ratios. Maybe even a touch extra soap.

Also, are you wiping down daily with a UQD? Maybe the dirt is getting to heavy for it.

It would be good if you could get at least one patch cleaned up, then sort of keep an eye on it to see what happens, or if something specifc causes it.

Ahhh, a black car ... and a daily driver, too. Of course you have swirls--swirls and black cars are inseparable--but fortunately I have posted the ultimate solution!

As a fellow black car owner, you have my sympathies. When I bought my car I had no idea that black was such a difficult color to maintain. I do not regret my decision, but I have had to lower my expectations and learn to accept the swirls and scratches that re-appear within minutes after being buffed away. Just last night I made the big mistake of using a Brinkmann spotlight to examine my car's paint. Sigh. Swirls are everywhere. To own a black car is to know futility. Just call me Sisyphus.

      Cheers,
      Al

That's the problem with clear coat paints, they scratch easily and it's easy to see the swirls and scratches.

I think car manufactures and dealerships forget to mention this in their sales brochures, they just point out all the good things, not the bad things...

Mike are you sure about that.
I have never heard of a dishonest car salesman.
Do you really think they would mislead you to make a sale.
