  • Waxing door jambs?

I'm wondering how common it is to wax the door jambs when doing a detail.

On my cars, I wax the larger areas and the parts exposed to the elements. People at work say I have the shiniest cars.....even when it's raining, that M16 rolls the rain right off

Cleaning and waxing the door jambs should be part of every routine detailing process, just as cleaning and dressing the wheel wells is. It really detracts from the overall presentation if the exterior is gleaming, the interior spotless, but the door jambs are a mess. Attention to detail is key.

I have been cleaning them, guess it didn't occur to me to wax them as well. Not sure why I didn't think about it.

Manditory here in snow country. Car's seem to have a propensity to start rusting there when they get chipped and are subjected to road salt and slush. The inner door panel areas are also a place to regularly clean and wax, IMO.

This is a mandatory part of my pre-winter detailing. An absolute necessity when freezing rain "seals" your doors shut. I have damaged too many doors seals by not waxing the metal and conditioning the seals with silicone spray.

Those of us who have bought the Meg's consumer claybar kit received a small bottle of Cleaner Wax. I didn't know what I was going to do with it until Mike P made the suggestion in one of his comments to use Cleaner Wax on the door jambs and painted trunk space (is there a name for that area? trunk jambs?). --Al

The new Megs Spray Wax should be just the thing for doing door jambs.

I tend to use Quik Wax for the jams.

After wiping them down, I like using A-12 cleaner wax on them.

I use a quick spray wax on the door jambs.

Yup, thats exactly what I do!

Ill probably use scratch-x 2.0 or or swirl-x to remove swirls in door jambs now..

Usually Ill wash and dry them every time I wash the paint and wax them when I do a full detail.

I hit mine with some m09 when im polishing, what ever wax i use when im waxing, or the quick detailer I use after a quick wash. Basically treat them just like the rest of the car.The polish will deffinitly bring them to life and would recomend making a little time for it.
