  • Which pad to use with the ultimate bonnets?

I'm getting ready to do a big detail this weekend, and am wondering what pad I should use with the ultimate bonnet? I'll be one stepping an H2 with M-66 using a Yellow polishing pad, and possibly topping with gold class wax. In either case, I need to order some new pads and some ultimate bonnets. Will 3 ultimate bonnets be enough? And how many pads do I need of each?
    I want 4" Softbuff pads!

The Yellow Soft Buff® Foam Polishing Pad W-8006, the cutting pad is a little too firm and the finishing pad is just a little too soft.

If you are just waxing one pad for the wax should be enough, just make sure you don't over saturate the pad. You will want a second new pad for the bonnets and yes three should be enough. You can take them off and reverse them and make sure you shake them out and brush them off as you go to get rid of the build up.

Make sure you use the bonnet over a clean pad. Don't want the polish or whatever soaking through the bonnet.

If you have the 7336 that came with the PC foam pad, Mike has said that pad makes a good backing for the bonnet. May as well put it to use

I'll be using M-66 as a one step product, and if he choose for the extra-cost option, then I'll apply gold class wax by hand. So if I pick up 3 polishing pads I should be fine then?

I have the 7336, but that old pad exploded on me quite awhile back. I tried to to spin dry the pad after I had cleaned it with a little bit of soap and water, and BOOM.

I'd go with the little kit that Meguiar's sells in their online store, assuming you are ordering from there.

WDAV99-B which has 2 polishing pads (8006) and 1 finishing pad (9006). I've found that I like applying waxes and sealants with a finishing pad rather than a polishing pad, so I'd apply Gold Class with the finishing pad.
