Re: What's the most expensive wax you've used?

Have Pinnacle waxes, Collinite waxes, and Wolfgang Fuzion. To be honest it is all about the passion, and if budget allows, why not.

But keep in mind it's all in the prep. I've seen wax comparison test on DetailingWorld by Dave KG, and Collinite 915 ($30) was rated higher then Zymol Royale (~$2k)...
Therefore if you don't properly prep it, even $45k Solaris won't give you desired results...

I think Jay Leno has more sense than to buy those waxes!
I remember seeing a pic of his garage, and could pick out several Meguiars products (don't remember which ones in specific).

The most I have spent on wax is #26, and it was well worth it!
Another one of the pricier waxes I have bought is EagleOne Nano wax (shoulda bought NXT instead)

im sure most of you have seen this before,

this guy here uses the one that costs $8416, 2nd last from the bottom. its hand applied.
its not the first time ive seen people use this, its pretti popular amongst the exotic detailers.

the thing that gets people i reckon is that beyond a certain point, its going to be snake oil. detailing has similarities, if one can compare, to the hifi hobby. speakers, interconnects, small little caps, plugs, rocks, cds, software, blah blah that cost anywhere from $1 to $800,000 or above.

anyway one would find my dead rather than using really exotic waxes on a car (like >$500), i just dont think their worth my time and money

IMO an application of Last Touch to clear a day's worth of dust does a whole heap more for looks than any expensive wax can.

Most expensive? Zymol Glasur @ $90.00 or so. I also have their Cerme, and Carbon in my collection. Honestly, #26 is still the best in my book. I use the Zymol on my lacquer finish drum kits. I used the Carbon on my mom's 2000 silver Buick Regal, and was thoroughly impressd though. For the value, and results that I look for, nothing has beaten #26.

If I won the lottery, I'd probably buy that $45,000 wax just because. Would I ever use it? Probably not. My $15 bottle of wax has gotten me plenty of compliments. I still get asked if it is a new car. Works for me.

My 2 most expensive waxes are Dodo Juice Supernatural and Wolfgang Fuzion. I must admit, Fuzion is a fantastic wax. Very easy on and very easy off, smell fantastic and lasts very long. It gave dept like I never saw before and the beading is very impressive:

Before I learned to properly prep and maintain my paint I bought some Zymol Carbon and had a detailer, who I know is experienced with using it do may car and was not Impressed. It was a good lesson though because that's what inspired me to learn the fine art of detail myself.Although I now use M21 the Zymol looked no better than the coats of M26 that Ive done.

Re: What's the most expensive wax you've used?

I have used Zymol Royale - its currently on my car actually, the water beading from it is insanely tight and the sheetingt very fast - reminds me of Collinite 476S if I'm being honest!! I'm a big fan of fine machine polishing, so the wax adds little if any tenable difference to the looks on my finish, and this is something that was also bourne out in a recent test I did in 2008 comparing different waxes on identical cars - could anyone spot the 8k wax amongst the $20 wax ..... nope!

Perhaps I will post up the relevant threads from my wax test for interest so folks can see and make up their minds about it...

Zymol Titanium cost around £40 when I bought it in 1998, and I still have some left. Very impressed for summer use but prefer using #7 Show Car Glaze and either NXT, #16 or Collinite in the winter months for durability.
