ScratchX 2.0 - Removing Too Much Paint?

    Hello,

ScratchX is considered a paint cleaner, right? I noticed some fine, really fine scratches on the hood of my car. First, I thought they were the spider web stuff flying around in the air this time of year. I went to wipe them off and they did not go away. Hmm? I thought. Time to try some ScratchX and see if it removes these barely visible marks.

    My question is this;

How thick is the clear coat, and is it possible to eventually remove the clear coat over time by using ScratchX or your paint cleaners and polishes?

    Just curious!

    Thanks

    Mark

What kind of car is it and what color? From my understanding, if you're using ScratchX by hand, I don't think it's even possible to remove it completely. In fact, to even remove small scratches, you have to put some "passion behind the pad" by hand sometimes repeating the process 2-5 times.

Removing too much paint for most people is the least of their worries.

If you were to read enough of this forum you'll see a reoccurring theme which shows itself as frustration. That is people that are frustrated because they have swirls and scratches in their car's paint and frustrated because they can't get them out, at least they can't get them out easily.

Removing swirls and scratches means removing a little paint.

So when people are frustrated because they can't get the swirls and scratches out, another way of saying this is people are frustrated because they can't remove enough paint.

Thus my comment, for most people, removing too much paint is the least of their worries.

See if you can remove any swirls and scratches first, or in other words, see if you can remove any paint at all.

      Make sense?

The nutshell answer is your paint tends to be hard and thus it's hard to remove small particles of it so no, you with your hand are not going to remove enough paint for it to be a concern.

          Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply's. I actually live here in Woodland, next to Sacramento.

It would be nice to come to one of the classes though.

That's quite a drive but we've had plenty of people drive in from Sacramento and even further...

            Maybe someday...
