Read this thread.. helpful to a degree...

I asked the misses to buy me a car cover for my daily driver, when i say daily i mean i dont drive it to work, unless its a Wednesday and may in the arvo some nights during the week.

Sat and Sun it is always parked on the road outside the missess place, so Saturday and Sunday are not included....

Most of the time my car is parked underneath an open car port that seems to blow a freakin huge load of dust...

I have washed my car and waxed and could park it there over night, and come back and run my finger over the car and there will be a major pile of dust banked up...

I wanted to know, if a car cover can cuases scratches?
Is there a good type of cover on the market that would be recomended?
What are the guys talking about in the thread about, dust building up inside the cover?

    Thanks Jas.

    Re: Cover Cars (again)!

Usually a quality car cover won't cause scratches but when dirt gets trapped underneath of it then the dirt can cause scratches when the car cover is moved against the paint usually by wind.

It is possible for any less than soft edging that's in contact with the paint to cause scratches if it's rubbed against the paint by wind or while installing the cover.

Using a car cover outside does pose some risks mostly having to do with dirt and dust getting under the cover and then any movement of the cover will grind the dirt against the paint. At the same time the cover is protecting the paint from dirt and dust and things like tree sap or bird droppings.

    Don't know if that helps...
