  • Cleaning a leather wrapped steering wheel

My wifes cars steering wheel was filthy. I cleaned it with mcquires interior detail. It worked well as far as getting the dirt out of the nooks and crannies, but it left the steering wheel a little slippery. I would like to get it back to original feel if possible. any tips you could give me would be appreciated.

Not knowing which interior product you used I would recommend Quick Interior Detailer followed with a Gold Class Leather wipe. Thats what I used and the process leaves behind a clean, protected and non-greasy feel.

A nice bowl of hot water and a clean microfiber. That will take if back to the original feel and clean it well. protection is key though, that is where a lite coat of leather cleaner/conditioner or just conditioner will help.

You could even keep it real simple, mist a little glass cleaner onto a microfiber and give it a gentle wipe.

The Quik Interior Detailer would be the best way and a product you could use all the time on the inside of any of your cars. The best news is it's fairly easy to find at any auto parts stores and would make a great regular maintenance product for this steering wheel as anything the human hands touch over and over again will tend to get a build-up of grime from the oils, dirt, sweat, etc. usually found on your hands.

Thanks I used the quick interior detailer and it cleaned it up very nice except left it a little slippery. I happen to have the leather wipes at home and I will try the hot water and then the wipes .
          Thank a lot

The hot water opens the pores and tends to emulsify the oily dirt. Apply a conditioner while still warm.

Bet she uses alot of hand lotion...
