  • How do I get product to remove completely?

First off my car is 94 Caprice and my paint is a cheap single stage Maaco paint job. Its paint and clear mixed. Its has alot of scratches and oxidation now. I used the deep crystal system and it removed the oxidation and some scrathces but when I polished the are all of the these swirls marks left like I cant remove the polish properly. I went ahead and applied wax to a small section to see if that helped but it didnt. By the way Im doin all this by hand and its very tiring. I need some help!

Are you letting the non-wax products dry?

The correct way to use both a paint cleaner and a polish is to apply to a section or panel at a time and then remove it, don't let it dry. The only products that need to dry are car waxes.

If you have either paint cleaner or polish residue stuck on the paint, simply re-apply some paint cleaner to loosen the product and then instantly wipe it clean and after that you'll need to re-apply some wax to these areas as applying a paint cleaner will effectively remove anything sitting on the surface.

    Hope this helps...

Welcome to Meguiars Online. Did you work the product completely? The swirls could require a more aggressive product, or something like a Dual Action Polisher or Rotary Buffer or ScratchX. Click the link below in how to use ScratchX, which contains diminishing abrasives.

There used to be an inexpensive paint system where after being sprayed a clear segment of the paint would somehow rise to the top and create a quasi-clearcoat finish but this clear layer would be incredibly thin.

Buff a little too much on this thin layer and you'll be through it and pulling color.

Are you seeing color transfer onto your applicator pads and towels when you work on the paint?

The color is transferring to the applicator pads. The paint itself looks alot better. No more oxidation its just the residue. I did all of this in the garage but when I pulled it into the sun for inspection i see all of the residue. I will take you advice and try it out tomorrow.

            How deep are the scratches???
Do you have a way of posting pictures.
Maybe you will need a PC to remove them.
If the entire car has serious scratches correcting by hand will be a lot of work and take a lot of time but it can be done.
