  • Removing Cured #20, NXT, Carnauba wax?

Will isopropyl alcohol mixed with water 50/50 solution remove Cured #20, Cured NXT of cured carnauba wax?

You know I asked this question about getting NXT off so I could touch up some rock chips and the answer seemed to be that isopropyl alcohol or all purpose cleaner would do the trick. I had a couple coats of NXT on my hood where I touched up and all I used was isopropyl alcohol to remove it and I had no problems with the touched up spots.

However, I think I just put two and two together. Use it to remove it then get a clean towel and rub it against the surface. You get squeaks if there is no wax there.

I don't know the exact answer to this, I saw a black Corvette with two coats of NXT Tech Wax on it after it was aggressively washed with one time with a strong dish soap and when I looked at the finish, it didn't look like it removed much at all...

Yeah thats what I was woundering because those polymer waxes like NXT are very strong. Here's the original post I did reguarding this:

        Removing NXT

The alcohol seemed to work. I'll take another closer look at the touch up spots tomorrow and let you know, but I havnen't noticed any problems with it so far, and I would think if there was any wax where I did my touch up spots they should have gotten funky at least right?

Ok There is a reason I asked this question, The reason is I see a lot of tests being done comparing NXT to carnauba, NXT does not last as long as carnauba ect ect ect. It's not that I don't trust there out come I just don't belive they eliminated bias.

I was going to tape off the hood of my truck and do 1/2 in NXT and 1/2 carnauba as see what the out come would be through the winter, but since my truck has numerous amounts of #20, NXT, and toped with a pure carnauba and being black,a DD and never sees shelter I though it would be a good test bed. So I think I will ask the Fire Dep to save me a few hood and trunks from some of the old cars they cut up for there drills. this way I know that all the surfaces are pure unaltered by a products history. This will also serve as a practice bed for using the rotary and #83.

          Thanks.
