  • Question regarding Taping off sections

Since I have recently started detailing as a side business I would like to have some pictures to impress clients with. My currently has many swirls. I plan on taping off half of the hood and using my new G-100 to fix up one side then take a comparison picture. My question is, which type of tape is safe to put on my paint?

      *IMPORTANT*

Whenever you use tape on an automotive finish, when removing, always pull back on the tape, close to and horizontal to the surface. Don't pull up-wards on the tape, it's possible to pull some paint off.

This isn't so much of a concern with a new car, but if your working on an older car, or a re-paint of questionable quality, it plays to be safe and error on the side of caution.

        ALSO IMPORTANT...

Watch your emblems too, some are painted and you can easily pull the paint off. I know of someone that did this with a BMW emblem and they had to go buy a new one.
