  • paint problem =[

Well i left my car at my dads house for about a month.
he left it in the garage with no car cover on.
well i got it back today and it was really dusty so i though no problem ill just wash it when i get home. so i drove it home and began to wash it. when i began to dry it i can see that theres still dust on the paint. it wont come off.

is there anyway i can get rid of it? =[
and my car is black so you can really tell =[

If it was just dust it should have washed right off.

Did anyone do any painting or spraying of anything near it. Over spray could look like dust. You might want to give clay a try. Are you familiar with claying? If you have any questions just let us know.

By the way... Welcome to MOL!

Agree. Loose dirt, dust and other airborne contaminants should wash right off, if it doesn't that means the dust may not be dust and whatever it is it has bonded or attached itself to the paint and in order to remove it you'll likely have to use Detailing Clay and clay the paint to remove it.

well i have a 67 mustang if that helps somehow.

i bought that clay kit and it got rid of most of it but theres still a little there.
Is there another kind of clay bar or clay bar kit thats a tad bit more stronger?

              edit:
              i found these

would any of these be stronger than the clay in the kit?

You could try the mild clay. It might marr the finish depending on the paint and then you willl need a paint cleaner to clean up any imperfections. The DC1 cleaner is great stuff, I started out using that stuff and it is a awesome product. then after you clean the paint go for the step 2 DC2 polish if you want or go straight to NXT 2.0. Is your Mustang a SS paint or clear coat.

Our Mild Clay is a tick more aggressive than the clay in our Consumer Line and used correctly, that is used with everything clean, then it shouldn't mar the finish or create what's called clay haze.

You could also try the Aggressive Clay as it's quite a bit more aggressive but as 03mach1 stated, this particular clay may instill some hazing but the hazing can be removed using a paint cleaner.

The ultimate goal is removing the above surface contaminants whatever it is so you can get your paint as smooth as possible because gloss comes from smoothness and you definitely want the paint on a 1967 Mustang to be as glossy as possible.

Does your Mustang have a new paint job? Or an original paint job? Or an older re-paint?
