  • Crystal Polish and Paint Cleaner

Am new to Meguiar's products but after reading some of the posts, i have some queries.

Since "Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner contain diminishing abrasives" but Deep Crystal Polish actually is non abrasive,
for my new car, should i NOT use the paint cleaner but use the polish instead and seal with NXT?

    Is the following approach correct?
    a) wash - quick detailer (weekly)
    a) wash - clay - polish - nxt (every 3-6 months)

Again, do i need the paint cleaner for a new car paint?

The diminishing abrasives are for helping you to remove defect "in" the paint, like swirls and scratches.

If you're happy with your paint and the way it looks then you can skip the paint cleaner and simply polish and wax.

Hey mike, thanks for the fast reply.

So, the full approach will be : wash - clay - paint cleaner - polish - nxt, am i right?

What is the difference between the Deep Crystal Paint cleaner and Scratch X, both mention swirls, scratch removal capability, which is better then?

ScratchX is a better option if you are trying to remove swirls and scratches.

              Hi Mike,

I know that there was a debate for some time whether the DC #1 had diminishing abrasives or only chemical cleaners, and at a later time it was confirmed that it does contain some diminishing abrasives. But I was under the impression that these diminishing abrasives had no cut rating (or virtually no cut rating) and were to assist the chemical cleaners in DC#1 to cleanse the paint. If DC#1 has enough cut to remove defects "in" the paint, what would be its cut rating when compared to #9?

I use DC#1 a lot (I mean a lot!!!) so it would be great to know its cut rating on the Megs scale.

              Thanks,

              Nick.

To my knowledge, Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is our lightest paint cleaner. A tick less aggressive than ScratchX.

Instead of relying on a visual scale, simply look at your results after doing a test section with this product and if it's not working fast enough or effective enough then substitute are more aggressive product.
