    Re: Best Swirlfinder/Defect Light?

Sorry guys but I can't find pics where the Brink man has been used but here are some showing the SunGun in use: -

    And finally.....

Possibly someone else may be able to post some pics where the Brinkman has been used ideally on red paintwork.

My personal opinion is that the Brinkman would struggle to show the clarity of the 3rd picture......just my opinion though.

Thanks for the info Bryan. I'm hoping the Brinkmann pictures that someone will hopefully post in here will at least be somewhat close to the results you just showed with your 3M SunGun. I would much rather spend 30 bucks compared to nearly $400.

Yes, it will show micro-marring and hazing.

Hold the light about a foot and a half off the surface, don't hold it real close, that's the wrong technique.

If Mike say's so it's golden. I'm going to buy a Brinkman. I'm sure the 3M sun gun is really good too but until I can fork over $350+ I'm going to get the $25 Brinkman. Thanks Mike!

Oh they will be....don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with the Brinkman and at the price it's perfect but we're doing a job for others we want to give them the very best job we can and that means the SunGun nothing is left to chance they get as near the perfect job as we can give them

PS I'll go have another look for Brinkman pics.

I just did a search on PepBoy's website and nothing came up for the Brinkman. Does anyone know for sure who has it other then online vendors?

Nop can't find any pics where the Brinkman has been used, however, we're detailing a black BMW at the weekend so if I remember we'll take some pics using both so you can see a direct comparison between both the SunGun and the Brinkman on the same car infact the same panel......should be a good exercise actually.....here's hoping I remember eh LOL!!

Haha, I hope you remember. That would be an excellent comparison.

To be honest, I don't know if I would want to see more defects than the Brinkman shows!

This was kind of my underlying point.

Close to similar results, at least the kind of results the will help you reach your goals at a much lower price point.

Works great for a flashlight around the house or when you go camping too... plus the Brinkman comes with a car charger and a household wall charger.

                          Re: Best Swirlfinder/Defect Light?

I thought I would post this question in here since it's along these lines. Does anyone have any experience with silver cars? My wife's car is a 2007 Civic EX (silver) and I have the hardest time trying to see defects out in the sun because when the sun hits it the silver flakes are so bright you can hardly look at it up close. Any tips? I will be buying the Brinkman so maybe that will help. So far I have a halogen lamp and I've had no luck with it at all.

Sure sounds like a winner to me. I think I will be picking one up in the near future. Thanks guys.

OK guys here are a couple of links where both are used there is even some videos aswell where Dave tries to show how to use the light source: -

Critical to ensuring you have the best possible finish when rotary polishing is assessing that the finish is hologram free - however, this is not always easy as many will know especially for light holorgrams... So I have compiled a few little tips and videos for how to make the best of your...

You can see in the above link that the SunGun will pick up hologrames and pigtails where the Brinkman has not picked them up.

                              And another: -

For those machine polishing their cars, a suitable light source for highlighting swirls and marring is key, especially for evaluating the removal and also the quality of the finish achieved. A great many light sources exist on the market, and one of these is the 500W Halogens which are readily...
