    Hi,

I have a 2008 Black Mercedes C300 (I posted several times about this car).

Even if it is just a year old, it has got swirls and scratches on the hood and the trunk side. Barely seen in the shade and the paint is still wet and gloss.

I purchased ColorX (on transit), ScratchX, 4 Meguiar's MFs, 3 Ultimate MFs, 4 Foam applicator, NXT 2.0 Wash shampoo, was, and detailerm, 2 Doublecoat MF applicators, and MF water magnet towel.

I am planning to pick claybar at Walmart this afternoon.

Hoping work by hand will be successful, I plan to do the following jobs this afternoon at co-op wash shop:

    1. Clay the whole car
    2. Scratch X on the hood and on the trunk - I haven't received ColorX yet, I decided to give a shot on ScratchX. Yeah I will try on a small spot first.
    3. Waxing NXT 2.0
    4. Spray Quick Detailing and wipe out.
    5. Waxing NXT 2.0 (if time is allowed)

Am I on the right track? Otherwise, let me have some tips.

My car is still like a brand new and I want to keep the condition as long as possible.

Honestly, I tried ScratchX with MF applicator (from Target) on a small spot of my trunk twice but did not get a good result. So, I will try agiain along with all the Meguiar's equipments. I will use Foam Applicator this time.

Your Mercedes has a tough clear on it. I don't know much about hand application on your paint, as I work with a machine. But sometimes, with the new Mercedes, it can take quite a bit of work to pull out the scratches and swirls, even with machine polishing.

I'll let someone else chime in about hand application though.

It sounds like my plan will be useless.

Do I have to sit and blame my dealership for this kinds of damn swirls and scratches?

Well, it may not be useless, but it might be a lot of hard work by hand. You will really need to "put some passion behind your pad" when using the ScratchX.

As for blaming the dealer- lost cause. It is likely from a combination of them and you washing it...it's normal and to be expected.

Yeah partly my fault along with my dealership's contribution.

Anyway, leaving scratchingX behind, today, I clayed my car and waxed with NXT 2.0. It took almost 4 hours.

I will try scratching X or Color X a couple of weeks later with "PASSION BEHIND PAD."

I don't know why I've become so mindful of painting of cars. I was no more than an average Joe who do just mind whether his car is going or stopping.

Thank you for giving me a chance to see some hope.
