Thanks for the kind words!! Now you understand why I'm so desperate to fix my baby! ;-) There is nothing in the carpet... it just almost appears that I've cleaned it too much, and now the threads won't go back to the way they looked before. But I don't understand that, because I haven't been over-aggressive, I haven't been careless with my approach, and I haven't done anything that I would imagine would DAMAGE the carpet. I do have a toothbrush... how would you suggest I use it?

For sure! I would be in tears.

I'm thinking just work the toothbrush lightly in the area dry with no water or other chemicals. I just thinking in might work like a comb and get the fiber back to normal. I'm just picturing it getting matted down like my dog, comb her out and she's fine. Okay, so it sounds a bit weird but that's the only thing I can think of. If that doesn't work you could try spraying a little plain water on the area, work with the brush then dry with a towel.

Other than that I'm lost. A picture or start a new thread looking for a detailer in your area.

Just like Mike said. I just reread your first post. I thought you were a professional detailer and had access to an extractor. Any professional carpet cleaner can fix this problem in 5 minutes.
