  • Washing a Car in College

My sister called me today and asked if I could clean her friends car in college when I go visit her. I quickly said yes, but after thinking a while, I do not know how dirty the car is. I will ask her if he can take pictures later, but I wanted to get some suggestions first. I was planning on doing a system similar to the waterless system of meguiars but here in America. I have the California Duster(almost the same as the waterless one), quik and ultimate quik deatilers, and microfiber towels. Then I assume he is not a car guy so I would clay it and wax it, nothing special. I was wondering if you guys had any tips on what products to use, because I am going to the store tomorrow hopefully. I am not sure if I can get water to the car easily either, so the suggestions should be able to be used waterless. In advance thanks.

since you have a truck.... just bring 3 filled 5 gallon buckets.... and a super soaker.... LOL.... just make sure the buckets are secured and lid closed.... maybe duct tape the lids to make sure it doesnt spill...

with that you can just your normal car soap and wash mitt and wash the car as you would at home.....

I would recommend ColorX, topped with NXT.

Bring a 5 gallon bucket with water and a lid, some Quick & Easy Wash, and a few microfiber towels. Or a lot of spray detailer and microfiber towels.

You could consider driving to a coin-op place...

Even cheating and bringing your own bucket of soap real fast, even if you do it in the off-hours.

My neighbor owns 5 local coin operated car washes, so I visit them feeling a sense of immunity from authority when I bring my buckets

But in all seriousness, I only do it LATE at night (midnight or later) and I work in the dark...it's nice though for a quickie wash with spot free water for under 5 bucks a wash!

They might have a water source. But your best bet would probably be going to a coin op wash. Try washing it early enough so the wash is not filled up. Usually they don't mind you using your own bucket if they are not slammed.

Yeah just go to a carwash and bring your own sponges, bucket and detailing items. I don't know what these waterless systems are but I can't imagine trying to clean a car with just a duster and some detailing spray and cloths.

"Waterless Wash" just say that a few time out loud. It makes no sense.

Exactly.. Best stuff for this kinda situation.

If its bad(dirty) take it to a coin-op and rinse it off good. Then take it where ever youre working and use the ONR to wash it. After that you can do whatever you want.

Claying, color-x, then NXTv2 should work out great.

Why not? When you don't have access to a hose, a product like ONR is your only choice. It works great. Many people use it even when a hose is available due to its ease of use.
