  • big scratch

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here it goes.

I got a 2 to 3" scratch yesterday on my car. Have no Idea how it got there, but it happened in my own driveway. It is too far gone to buff out or even try to fix. Its below the headlight on my bumper, which is plastic so I don't have to worry about rust. It goes right through all layers of paint, I wouldn't even call it a scratch, this is a deep abrassion caused by something dull. Sorry I don't have pics to show you guys, but you get the idea its not pretty.

So here's my options (feel free to suggest)
-1 take it somewhere to get touched up. I don't think this will come out too well. It will still be really noticeable. Why spend the money.

-2 Spend the money, get them to repair it the best they can. I am pretty sure this would require sanding the area down, then I am not too sure how much they would have to spray. this option probably would yeild best results, but be most costly and still not perfect.

-3 I touch it up myself, I feel fairly confident I can touch it up pretty well. This would keep it from continuing to peel or get worse. Then buy the OEM nose mask for my car to cover this unsightly scar.

I am leaning towards option three, so basically what are you thoughts on the nose mask. I know it will take more care cleaning than normal, but I got to do what I got to do.

I would try and find a good air brush toucher in your area. If you were in Arizona I could give you a good recommendation for one that is a miracle worker when it comes to air brush touching. sounds like your scratch is pretty deep so what they'd have to do is put a little filler in the scratch to level it out first then come by and air brush touch it then hit the area with a buffer to level it out.

I sware, a good air brush toucher can make a key mark down a door dissapear. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I've seen it done, but it does take talent.

I agree with Rick, see if you can find a good airbrush artist and see what he would charge, and even if he would be interested in working on it for you. (Artist might have bigger fish to catch).

Other than that, I would do the best job of scuffing and cleaning it, (if possible), and then applying some touch-up paint to it and then live with it.

Best of luck to your with your endeavor.
