Do you think a car cover is a practical or good idea for everyday use cars? I ask because I really like to keep my car clean since it's black but rain, dew, and contaminants find their way onto the car plus it sits in the sun all day while I'm at work. On the other hand, I don't want to draw attention to myself and the car (maybe even causing more trouble for the car) by putting a cover over a Honda Civic. People seem to have the attitude that a car cover should only go over an expensive, classic, or topless car. But if I had that type of attitude about everything, I could say "why do I need to keep a Civic clean if it's just a Civic?" Furthermore, if the car was clean all the time, I'd never be able to clean/detail it and I'd have less experience with cleaning a dirty car. It goes both ways. What do you guys think about car covers?

Re: Car Cover?
For everyday use, I really doubt it.....
I have one, but no way will I be bothered taking it on and off, folding it safely, getting all the dust off the paint before putting it back on, etc.....2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Car Cover?
If you can, use some flannelette sheets before putting the cover on. It will be less prone to swirls and scratches from dirt trapped in the cover. You can wash the sheets to keep them clean.
And yes it's only a few minutes on your day, don't worry what people think, it shows you take pride in your ride.

Re: Car Cover?
That’s a tough call. No doubt a cover will further prevent contaminants from coming in contact with the paint, and you’ll cut down on how much the paint is exposed to UV rays. Then, on the down side it does take a few minutes each day, and if you don’t shake the cover out/clean it periodically that can impact the paint as well. Both have positives and negatives.
On a personal level, I just make sure that there is always a good coat of wax on my truck. Then, I hit it every few days with Ultimate Quik Detailer and a Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel, and that works for me.Rick McDonough
