    Re: cleaning wipers

Hi Morales, and welcome to MOL!

    A few questions for you...

Are you using the wipers with the windshield dry, or wet? (Is it during rain?)

Is the windshield dirty? (Bug smears, sap from trees, lots of dust or dirt, etc)

Are the wiper blades more than a year old?

*Did you put any type of dressing like Meguiar's #40, or Hyper dressing (or any trim or tire dressing) on the blades to make them black again?

The answers to those questions will help us better answer your question, so let us know as much as you can.

        Re: cleaning wipers

Always a good idea to clean the windshield good.

After washing, you can clay and then use a good glass cleaner like Nxt Glass Cleaner. You can also follow up with RainX if you like.

Then wipe down the edge of the blade with a damp cloth.

        See if that helps....

          Re: cleaning wipers

Well I like to get a microfiber wet with my window cleaner. Then I wipe down the wiper blade with the wet micro.. It does remove a bunch of dirt from the blade.

            Re: cleaning wipers

Ok,but if the micro is only damp with water, it will not remove the dirt from the wiper.I think that we must remove road dirt over the wiper with something. So it will not transmit on the windshield.

              Re: cleaning wipers

If you want to thoroughly clean everything, you can clay the window and then wipe it down with glass cleaner. As for the wiper blades, I will clean mine every now and then with some rubbing alcohol. You may have to go over it several times to get all of the junk off of them. 303 makes a treatment wipe as well for the blades that can be found sometimes at parts stores for about 59 cents or so.

I think you mis-read my post. I said get the micro wet with window cleaner not water. Using the window cleaner on the microfiber works for me.

Thanks you all!If i clean wipers with a micro fiber with apc and after with #40?I think taht the problem sometimes is that the rub on the wiper becomes dirty and tough. What is rubbing alcohol?

                    Re: cleaning wipers

I wouldnt put a dressing back on the wiper blades.... Maybe just on the arms.

                      Re: cleaning wipers

You can buy rubbing alcohol at any pharmacy, also many car care stores carry small wipes that are specifically used for wipers (like a glorified handi-wipe with any aroma/perfume). These willl help to keep the rubber soft and pliable while also clean the blade. I do this at least once a week (I am very OCD about my windows/windshield)

                        Re: cleaning wipers

I've never "washed" my wiper in any special way other than using what I use for the car. I always put a dressing on my wipers, it is rubber. I don't have any problems doing that.

I've done it for over 30 years on all of my cars.

I hate not having functioning wipers or wiper fluid.
