  • Detailing Schedule

    Dear All,

I just bought a new car and would like to start a schedule to maintain the paint from begining. I was introduce by my friend to use Meguiar's product. May I know if the below schedule is right ?

    1. Wash every week with Rich Suds Car Wash(Will be getting NXT Generation Car Wash once it is available in my country), follow-up with either Quik Detailer or NXT Booster. Of course I had already done NXT Wax before that.

    2. Rich Suds Car Wash, Quik Clay Detailer System(if necessary) then ColourX every month.

    3. Rich Suds Car Wash, Quik Clay Detailer System(if necessary), Show Car Glaze Pure Polish, 2 coat of NXT Wax every 3 months.

Of course, in between them, I will use Quik Detailer and NXT Booster.

    Please advise.

    Thanks a million.

Can anyone just simply give me a "Y" or "N" ?

    Thank you.

I know Malaysia is hot, the wax may not hold that long period of time. You may wax at least once a month in order to keep the best look of your car.

By the way, do you hand polish or using a machine?

After washing your car, touch and evaluate the paint surface and decide what you want to do on your car.

Your method seems fine to me.

I use Black and Decker 6" Random Orbit Waxer/Polisher for Polish and Wax, is that ok ? I have no access to Meguiar's tools in Malaysia, at least not as a consumer.

Ok, I will wax once a month.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

        Cheers...

I cannot gaurantee the results using the polisher that you have. However, it seems to me that most car detailers (car crazy) would prefer to use a porter cable for detailing. I used to own one of those random orbit waxer / polisher from "Sears" and "Turtle Wax" but they did not give me the best result. These polishers usually come with a foam bonnet and a terry cloth bonnet; however, 90% of chance you will get swirl marks (from my practical experience).

Is Malaysia running 110V or 220V electricity? If it is 110V and you love your car so much, why don't you buy one from Meguiar's? The are on sale now.

So, you better think before you start.

We are using 220V here, so I guess I am out of luck

You are right, it comes with a blue colour foam bonnet and a high performance wool.

I guess I better use hand instead of that machine.

            Thanks for your advice.

            Cheers...

You may buy a transformer, that is, convert the electrical current from 220V to 110V or you can e-mail your problems to Meguiar.com to see whether they can help you.

Also, you can use their "Free Car Care RX" in their home page to find out which products that you could use.

P.S. Hand waxing takes lots of energy to apply and remove.

Looks good to me... getting your car on a regular maintenance schedule right from the start will keep it looking new all the time. Frequent car care is easy car care.
