Matte finish question for the seasoned detailers

I'm in the process of doing an extreme makeover on a white '98 Lincoln Navigator. Ford liked to use this matte finish on a lot of their vehicles durning this time period and was wondering what some of you were doing to impove it, if at all. Typically I would only wash and use a safe solvent to remove tar/bugs...and leave it at that. Just wondering if maybe I can do more.

I not the seasondist () but I like to use Gold Class Trim Detailer. I used All Season Dressing on our Neon for the trim and it worked great, the Yukon, not so great, it seems to like the trim detailer better. Only on the bumper covers on the back bumper though, odd.

They are smooth painted surfaces though...not textured rubber. I wonder if it has any long term effects on the paint. Plus the owner lives down a dirt road...and we all know what happens when you mix dressings and a dirt road.

Wonder what Lincoln recommends to owners for maintenance?

Generally speaking, most things don't get better with time so sometimes it a case of doing something is better than doing nothing.

Maybe rub the plastic down with Tech Protect as it's supposed to be water insoluble and after rubbing them down really good with this product then wipe them down really good with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove any trace residue off the surface that could attract dust.

That or maybe just rub down really good with QID as it cleans and adds a little protection.

Touch nut to crack...

Problems like this always makes me appreciate classic cars that don't have so much plastic for appearance components...
