I recently purchased a 2008 Denali w/ DISO and I am going to detail it this weekend. I plan to wash the vehicle w/ Gold Class using the two bucket system, clay the entire vehicle, #80 w/ DA PC, Deep Crystal Polish, then NXT wax. Will this be adequate, I want to remove most if not all the swirls. The products I have available are Scratch X, #80, Deep Crystal Polish, NXT wax, porter cable, and two pads can't recall the exaxt ones but one is purple and the other is a cutting pad. Thank you

Re: 2008 w/DISO-ADVICE PLZ
Dont know your pads.... You will have to know more about them, and likely will want more.
I wouldnt even use most cutting pads with the DA to apply products.
It would be nice to have 2 or 3 polishing pads to apply #80 with, a finishing pad for waxing, and a cutting pad with MF bonnets to remove wax. The DC polish really is optional, esp if you are low on pads.

Tips & Techniques for using the G110, G100, G220 and the PC Dual Action Polisher
Most people try to work to large an area at one time and because generally speaking modern clear coats are harder than traditional single stage paints, when you're using a DA Polisher you just can't carve out huge panels at one time.
We have 3 pads,
W-7006 Foam Cutting Pad, this pad is maroon in color
W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad, this pad is yellow in color
W-9006 Foam Finishing Pad, this pad is tan in color
Of the above 3 pads we don't recommend using this particular cutting pad with a DA Polisher as it will remove swirls and scratches but it will tend to haze the paint and most people don't know how to recover from this and instead panic and then blame us. Thus the warning not to use our W-7006 foam cutting pad on a DA Polisher.
You can use our yellow polishing pads but since you're using a Porter Cable unit it doesn't have enough power to rotate a wet pad. Here's what that means, as you work around the car your pad will get wet or saturated with product, the ore wet it gets, the more the wet foam will rob the power out of the PC unit and basically dissipate it. This will show up as the foam pad basically vibrating against the paint and the rotating ability will dramatically decrease.
Here's the skinny...
DA Polishers remove paint best when the pad is rotating over the surface, no rotation, no paint removal. Swirls and scratches are removed by removing a little paint.
The cure for using a Porter Cable unit over an entire car, especially a large rig like yours is to have plenty of clean, dry foam pads on hand for the swirl removal process. As your pad becomes wet and rotation diminishes, simply switch to a clean dry pad.
For a SUV like a Denali, I would have one pad for major panels like the doors and one or two for the hood.
You can try to trudge through this with your single pad but after it gets wet with product your ability to actually remove the swirls is going to really slow down...
Remember.... we don't make the paints... the fact that clear coats are hard to work on is the fault of paint manufactures and car manufactures.
It would probably be faster to rub the paint down by hand with M105 than it would be to try to remove all the swirls with a Porter Cable using only one or two pads.
Besides all that... before going over the entire car please do a Test Spot, that is test out your pads and products of choice to one small area and make sure you can make one small area look good before tackling the entire car.
If you can make one small area look good then dimply duplicate this over the entire car. If you can't then be glad you didn't work on the entire car only to be disappointed after you were done. Come back here and share what you're seeing and we'll do our best to see you through to success.

Can I pick up the 105 and another 8006 locally?
You need to locate and become new best buddies with the counter people at your local PBE store. PBE stands for Paint Body & Equipment and these are auto parts stores that also stock and sell supplies to the refinishing industry, (body shops).
They might have M105 and foam pads in stock if they're "in the know" otherwise they can order them for you. This will help, from our How To Articles forum,

Second, even thought it's not a recommended combination a lot of people have had good results using the M105 with a DA Polisher so you'll have to make your own decision.
Here's a thread from our Hot Topics forum that highlights the reasons behind Meguiar's stance...
Why not M105 with a DA Polisher?
That said and on a personal note, I would always try to use a machine before working by hand as a machine never gets tired and tends to always give better results as well as more uniform results.
Doing a Test Spot would be the first order of business after getting your supplies and the results from your test spot will help you to decide upon the path to follow.
