So since my car is black, and since I don't want to spend 4 hours washing the car every time I wash it, I like to wipe off the dirt every other day or so. I've seen those "car duster" things with the handle and stuff but is it OK to just wipe down the car with a microfiber cloth/towel? The dust is loose so the microfiber easily picks it up.

What you can do is wipe the car down with some Ultimate Quick Detailer using 3-4 Micro Fiber towels. As long as the weather is nice I will do this daily. I actually buy Meguiars "Last Touch" detail spray by the gallon from ADS.

There is a fine line as to when the car is too dirty though. At that point it is better to wash. If you do a lot of driving, or go a few days between using a QD, then you may want to wash instead.

Re: Dusting the Car
None of those dusters ever touch my vehicle. I don't care how dirty it gets I leave it sit until I can completely wash it off. As long as you take care of your vehicle it should come off fine. I have let dirt stay on a for a month before because I didn't have the time to wash and using Meg's car wash and a good Meg's waxing previously it came off with no problems. By the way there are no swirls on my finish.2007 Dodge Nitro SLT

Re: Dusting the Car
I have used the dusters for years on my dark red Saturn and navy blue RV. I only use it on light dust and QD the Saturn about every other day. As long as you do not expect the duster to do something it was not intended to do...remove light dust...you should have no problems. Understand that touching your paint with anything can cause swirls or spiderwebs....Barry

By the way, if there is dirt or bird dropping on the vehicle that won't come off by spraying it with QD and giving it a gentle wipe, should I just wait until wash or should I apply pressure? I thought I remember reading somewhere that I shouldn't be applying much pressure or it could scratch the paint.-HealthyCivic

Re: Dusting the Car
Have you heard of Optimum No Rinse? Many people use that to wash their cars during the winter time when its too cold to wash it outside. People say that 15 minutes is all they need to clean it. I would give that product a try since many use it with great success.Hello, I am Isaac

Try just spraying it (the dirt or bird dropping, not the whole car) with enough QD to get it wet, then let it set while you clean a couple other panels (don't let the QD dry on the paint though). After it has set for a minute or two, come back and try wiping it again. If it still doesn't come off, I would suggest just leaving it until you wash, since you have a black car which will show swirls easily.
FWIW if I wash a car one night and leave it in the garage to work on it the next morning, if there is light dust on it the next morning, I don't always use QD. Sometimes I just give it a light swipe with a dry MF. Never had a problem with it, but of course since it's been in the garage I know it's just dust on there.Lydia's Mobile Detailing

Bird bombs will usually come off with ease when using a QD. Just follow what the other members suggested. I would also suggest keeping a bottle of QD in your car with a MF towel. I've seen bird bombs etch into the clear in a matter of days, so best to get it off ASAP.
