  • long lasting and durable

I have a PC 7424 and will be polishing / waxing shortly, just ordered all my products from Mequiar's directly.

I am planning on the following steps for my dark colored cars, please let me know what you think.

    Wash

#9 put on w\W8006, removed w\M9920 both at 4000 opm
#7 put on w\W8006, removed w\M9920 both at 4000 opm

NXT 2.0 put on w\W9006, removed w\M9920 both at 4000 opm
    or
#26 put on w\W9006, removed w\M9920 both at 4000 opm

I would like a show car shine that is long lasting and durable but will also provide protection for the paint finish.

The harsh Canadian winters really does a number on the cars

First of all welcome to the site chaka!

In order to best answer your question we need to know what exactly you are intending to accomplish here. Do you want to remove swirls, scratches, or other imperfections in the clear coat? Or are you simply trying to add shine and protection?

The answer to those questions will influence pad, product, and application suggestions.

    Help us, help you!

P.S. If you can upload pictures into the gallery and post them here we can also assess your paint and give suggestions based on what we see. Send me a PM if you need help doing this.

        Hey Chaka,

Seeing that this is your first post on MOL, Welcome!

Like Mark said pictures would be great. If you can't upload any pictures just some questions as to what are you working on and what are you trying to accomplish.

You might want to feel the paint after washing and see if the paint needs to be clayed, if it does then clay after washing but before any machine cleaning step.

#9 is our least aggressive cleaner/polish, so if you car's paint has swirls at all it may be to gentle to remove them, best thing to do would be a test spot first and then inspect the results, if it looks good after #9 then go over the entire car, if it doesn't meet your expectations then you'll will need something more aggressive.

#9 also has a very rich content of polishing oils like the #7 so you won't see much or gain much by following #9 with #7

If you do have swirls you'll want to use the #9 on the 5.0 speed setting, not the 4.0 speed setting as this won't give you enough power to actually remove some paint if in fact you're trying to remove swirls. If you're just doing light cleaning of the surface then the 4.0 speed setting will be okay.

Usually you don't need or want high speeds for applying a finishing wax, you can if you want but it doesn't help anything.

For removing wax wit a bonnet you want to use a CLEAN, DRY dense or stiff pad like a cutting pad with your bonnet at the 5.0 speed setting, you need the higher speed and power to get the wax off the paint.

You also need to make sure the coating of wax is very thin.

This recipe works for most cars to accomplish your goals, as I stated previously M09 Swirl Remover is the MOST gentle cleaner/polish out of the 4 we make. M80 is the quite a bit more aggressive and effective and that's why you'll read so many posts on this forum and other forums using this with a DA Polisher to remove swirls.

                    Wash
                    Clay if needed
M80/W8006/DA Polisher on the 5.0 Speed Setting
NXT Tech Wax Liquid/W9006/DA Polisher on the 3.0 Speed Setting

Allow the wax to fully cure/dry and then wipe it off.
