My local body shop is working on my trans am as we speak and he was wondering about the NXT wax since this is what I use. He said he can't use anything with silicone because something about the dust particles from the silicone will make fresh pain fisheye. Does this stuff have silicones in it?

Re: Does the NXT tech wax have silicone?
Any type of wax will not be body shop safe (I believe), and NXT is included in that to the best of my knowledge.
You will want to strip the wax from the car before doing any new painting...but he should know that anyway. The body shop should be doing that regardless.
What do you mean by him asking if he can use it? Maybe I am not following you on exactly what your question is (or the circumstance).

Re: Does the NXT tech wax have silicone?
I was telling him how well the nxt worked for me so he was interested in trying it if it did not have silicone in it. Right now they use the New Finish brand when they do detail work because it does not have any silicone in it. He was thinking he would change to nxt or give it a try if it was silicone free

Re: Does the NXT tech wax have silicone?
NXT Tech Wax is not Body Shop Safe. That's a term used in the Professional Industry.
Meguiar's has been making body shop safe products as long or longer than most companies anyone can name so we very much now how to make products that won't cause fish eyes or surface adhesion problems in the body shop but waxes and/or paint sealants are not body shop safe.
Thinks about this, if a wax will make water bead up, or if paint sealant will make water bead up, then if you were to get that product or the dust from that product on a fender right before you sprayed fresh paint on it then it would more than likely want to make the paint bead up or in other words cause a fish eye.
Body shop guys should know not to take waxes or paint sealants into fresh paint environments. Most body shop guys are familiar with Meguiar's and 3M as we are the two largest suppliers of products used in body shops.

Isn't that the wax they say is a once a year car wax and then they show it going through 52 car washes and afterwards it still beads water?
It's not just about silicone, it's about ANY ingredient that could and would cause surface tension. It's the surface tension an ingredient creates that causes a fish eye or surface adhesion problems.

Thanks for the info. He said they have to be very careful on what they use.
