    Re: cleaning windshield

I use the eagle one glass cleaner and I have experienced the same thing the first time. What I did was take a brand new MF towl and sprayed on solution on the towl. By doing this it did not leave any lint on the windshield. As for the streaks after you clean it wipe it over again with a another clean MF towl. I have had good luck doing this. And wipe it all in one direction. I hope this helps.

Are you referring to the inside or outside of the glass?

If you are getting a film on the inside, it is mostly caused by out-gassing from the dash and interior trim material. This film can be cleaned off with a few attempts with a good class cleaner like Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner. Use a microfiber towel to thoroughly wipe the glass and NXT Glass Cleaner and then follow with another towel to completely dry the glass and remove any streaking missed by the first towel.

If you are referring the outside, you probably have gone through a car wash which sprayed a liquid wax or there may be a product like Rain-X on to the glass. When it rains, does it get real streaky with the windshield wipers? If so, take a product like Meg's #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner and a piece of cotton towelling. Work the product into the glass until it just about disappears. Then wipe off and proceed to clean it too with the NXT Glass Cleaner like you did with the inside.

Steam is going to happen with the temperature differential between inside and outside temperatures. There is little that can be done except to have a MF towel handy to wipe the moisture away. I have used Rain X Anti-Fog and it tended to leave a haze that really bugged me when headlights hit the glass at night.

        I hope this helps!

You can try claying the exterior glass also.

What would one use as a lubricant to clay the windshield? water?

Well, it works if bonded contaminants are the problem.... I would go with #4 first if it was real bad, but clay can deal with mild stuff.

Just use the regular QD spray, then clean the glass like normal after.

You would be amazed at all the contaminants that you will remove from the exterior glass. Claying the glass is a must in my book.

I've had pretty good luck with Meg's glass cleaner and a glass towel I got from ADS.
