  • Detailing BBS RS Wheels

Bought an old BBS RS wheel a week ago. Have done some minor polishing with old Meg NXT metal polysh (the blue one) with good result:

One on the left have been polished (need another round I suppose) and the one on the right is clean but un polished.

Question now, how do I clean/polish the studs & its surrounding area + some hard to reach area between the wheel barrel & the wheel face. Herewith the pic:

Any recommended products and tools? Please help...

I use the Mothers power ball, small one with Hot Mag and aluminum polish and came out great. It speed up polishing. But be careful and always have a good amout of polish on the power ball. The only thing is that you have the studs on the wheel and it may tear up a power ball. Those wheels are cool. Have not tried NXT metal polish with the power ball, it should work.

For around those studs I think the best idea would be to use a 2in x 2in square of terry cloth and some Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish and try and get in there as much as you can.

Let us know how it works out.

Either that or some Q-Tips I'd imagine. One reason I'll never own a wheel with studs on it.

If they're 3-piece wheels why don't you take them apart, clean, and reassemble? What are these going on?

Yes its a 3 piece wheel. Understand that best way is to disassemble the whole things, re-polish the barrel, powdercoat the wheel face & buy a new set of bolts.

Problem now, I live in a country where BBS is not popular and it's very difficult to get parts to totally refurbish the wheel. Need sometime to recover my pocket after I bought the wheel before I can order wider lips barrel, flush center cap, flush valve stem & all necessary parts from States or Europe.

Till then, I'd like to use the wheel and I want it to look nice... That is whats goin on now.

Good luck cleaning the studs. I think they are great looking rims. Let us know how they turn out.

Done some small polishing yesterday night. The hot mag & allumunium polish really great!

I used a small piece of terry cloth & polished it manually. 30 minutes for 3 studs and that is it for the day. My finger is now aching like heck. The stuff also works very well on the area surrounding the studs. Great product!

Regarding the power ball, I can't buy it locally. Not even similar products. I believe it will be great stuff to clean the studs.

                            Re: Detailing BBS RS Wheels

Bought hot mags & aluminum polish & try it on the wheel. Works the wonder, just amazing as it cleans all the area around the studs. Still can't do anything on the bolts. It's shinier and cleaner but some dirt still locked in.

Can't find power ball or anything like it so I polish the studs manually. Herewith the results:

Check the difference, the stud on the right end is not polished.

Find the right polisher but I need some suggestion on polishing tools to be used. I don't believe I can't clean the stuff without disassembling the wheels.

                            Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Has anyone suggested taking it to a wheel polishing company? Here's an example...

                              Mag Masters

Besides that contact this company and see if they show all their polishing tools online or if you can order a catalog.
