Hi everybody..yesterday I've removed a sticker located to the rear bumper of my car (two years old)...yesterday everything was great...I've checked all the work done in different positions and artificial lights.Today when sunlight arrived directly to the bumper I've noticed the ghost adhesive! My work has been as follow:

    1)hair drier
2)bug & tar remover on cool surface
    3)#80
    4)NEXT spray wax

The surface is smooth and clean...I suppose that I can't do other to eliminate the ghost on the clear coat...any advice for me please?...Mike?Can time and sun eliminates the difference? It means that the "fresh" paint under the sticker "breathe" and less deep?Thanx

How long was the sticker on there?

It is likely that the paint underthe sticker is more the "original" color, and the rest has faded slightly. If so, it is just a matter of cleaning/polishing the whole area to try and even things out.

      Re: ghost adhesive

Stickers and graphics of any kind when left on paint for long periods of time can leave an imprint in the paint which is topical and can usually be fixed but may require some advanced techniques like wet-sanding.

The other thing you might see is faded paint, that is the color portion or base-coat layer surrounding where the sticker or graphic used to be. If this is the case then there's nothing you can do because the problem is under the clear layer of paint.

Which problem do you think best describes the issue you're dealing with?

            Re: ghost adhesive

Mike is correct, after a long time the decal adhesive will cause the imprint.

Probaly just a few fractions of a "micron" or like less than .0005 inches.

Usually can be wet sanded with 2500 grit wet sand paper and buffed out.

            Perhaps even simply buffed out.

On a repaint rep you can DA the surface and remove before painting.

If you wet sand use a wet sanding pad, other wise you cause worse looking finger grooves.

In most cases you could probably use M105 to remove your sanding marks as long as you're finishing with a higher grit paper.
