  • Questions about using Scratch x and M09 with a DA

First off which is a more aggressive cleaner and/or scratch remover the M09 or Scratch X?

Second is Scratch X like a cleaner/polish or is it simply a scratch remover? Can I use this in place of a polish or should I apply a polish after Scratch X?

Finally what is the proper technique for applying these products with a DA polisher? Is it similar to M80 and M83 were you need to work the product enough for the abrasives to break down?

    Thanks

With a DA Polisher, ScratchX as M09 is pretty gentle.

ScratchX is a dedicated paint cleaner, it will leave the paint clear and glossy but that's because its a good paint cleaner, not a polish like M07 or M09, that is it doesn't contain any of the polishing oils like our pure polishes and cleaner/polishes.

Yes but you don't typically don't have to be worked a long as there's less aggressive diminishing abrasives in them.

    What are you working on?

      Thanks Mike,

I am working on a Black Ford F350 which I have determined to have soft paint because M80 is leaving micro-marring in the paint. I tried a small area with Scratch X and that seemed to work very well for removing the marring. I also picked up some M09 for future use and I wanted to make sure I am using them in proper way before I go and do the whole truck.

If the paint is micro-marring easy, the use a less aggressive product with a less aggressive pad and don't overuse pressure when buffing.
