  • Whats the best way to remove wax?

This is my first post, and let me start by saying how much I have enjoyed Meguiar’s Online since I discovered it last month. The amount of information that is freely shared here is amazing and to be commended. I have been using Meguiar’s products since about 1981 and thought I was fairly knowledgeable, but I have discovered that I am only a beginner compared to you all. I have learned a great deal from your posts, and I appreciate the information.

Now to my question… I have been using Medallion Premium Paint Protection for the last 10+ years and have been extremely pleased with the results. I use the G-100A to apply the product and have been using the Meguiar’s Hi-pile cotton towels to remove it. After reading the postings on the forum I am a little confused as to whether or not this is the best way to remove the Medallion. Would I get better results if I used a Microfiber? Is the Ultimate Bonnet going to be a futher improvement? From what I have read these seem to the preferred methods of removing the product. And if the results are going to be an improvement over the cotton towels is this improved appearance something that will be lost after the first rain/wash and I hit the car with Quick Detailer? I have some more questions on Medallion vs. NXT too, but we will save those for another post. Thanks.

The ulimate bonnet would be the way to go if you are using a PC. If not use a micro fiber. The results are awesome. Less chance for scratches too. I don't see how the results could go away if one rain. I have never had that problem.

I agree that this is an outstanding group here.

I use MPPP on a few vehicles I detail and it is a great product. It shines well and lasts a long time.

Like all last step products, I apply MPPC by hand and remove by hand. IMO, high quality micro-fiber towels work faster and better than the Meg's cotton towels for removing MPPP.

If your finish is prepped properly applying and removing wax by hand is a breeze and I feel I can do as good a job by hand. The only exception is waxes that have cleaners in them.

I never liked using the PC for application or removal of wax. I typically use it strictly for cleaners and polishes.

I am also a big fan of NXT Tech Wax and it's cousin the NXT Booster Spray Wax.
