My new 08 redfire pearl tiburon has swirl marks, mostly on the hood, from being detailed at the dealer before I purchased it, they are not real bad, but I am a fanatic and I hate seeing them, at all! I have already tried Klasse aio and the sealant gloss and then several coats of p21s and I still see them...ECK! Someone I know swears by Meguiars so I am trying to find the right products to use without making it worse. I am thinking I need to use a paint cleaner first maybe to get rid of everything I have already put on and start over? Any suggestions? Thank you

Re: trying to get swirl marks out of new car
First off, Welcome to Meguiar's Online Forum!
Are you going to be working by hand or DA? If your going to be working by hand, try giving this thread a read through:
How To Remove Swirls By Hand
If you are going to work with a dual action polisher, give this thread a read through.
Recommended Products - G100a Dual Action Polisher
Another product to consider if you are going to work by hand is Ultra Cut Compound (#105), which will work great by hand, better than ScratchX.

Re: trying to get swirl marks out of new car
scratch X will work if you are doing it by hand.... its the easiest thing to find avaiable at most places....
if you decide to get a dual action polisher then 80 will be a good choice for minor swirls....

Re: trying to get swirl marks out of new car
Hello and welcome to mol.
I would give scratch-x a try. Read the links that Ryan supplied. Work a small area and do not be afraid of applying some elbow grease. We call it passion around here. You should see a fantastics results.quality creates its own demand

Can someone please help me?
I bought a 08 Tiburon GT redfire pearl and there are some swirl marks in it, from the dealer, I was afraid to try something too harsh for fear of messing something up! I am paranoid about this car, the first new car I have ever had! I washed it with poorboys slick & suds wash, put on Klasse aio, then Klasse glaze, then p21s wax, it looks good, but not good enough for me, and I still see some swirl marks. So I am just going to wash it until I decide what to do next. Do I need to use a paintcleaner? I have some p21s paintcleaner, but have not used it, Will that help get out the swirls without being to harsh? I want to try the Meguiars polish, show glaze and I definately want to use the new nxt wax that I keep reading about here, how does this sound to you? That new wax sounds like it will give a wet look, and that is what I want. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: trying to get swirl marks out of new car
Thanks for the tips, yes I will be doing it by hand, and I was worried about using scratch x for fear it would be too harsh, take paint off or make it worse, I will watch the video you suggested, so what do you think about a paint cleaner? will I need to use that afterwards?

Re: Can someone please help me?
Do you have a DA Polisher? Or working by hand?
If your car's paint has swirls you're going to need to use a paint cleaner, cleaner/polish or even compound to remove them.
What it means to remove a scratch out of anything...

Re: Can someone please help me?
Putting a coat of NXT 2.0 on there will hide a lot of the swirls but if you want to eliminate them, you are going to have to enter the world of machine polishing. I would recommend M105 and a rotary with a wool and foam pad. Maybe an edge combo pad (now that we are all the same company! ;-). I'm a big fan of the Edge combo pads!

Re: trying to get swirl marks out of new car
Scratch X isn't that harsh. I have the lightest swirls and scratches in my hood, only visible in certain light, and Scratch X won't even touch them after multiple aggressive passes.
I'd give it a try and just take it easy at first to see how hard they are going to be to get out.
