Hi all. I just finished washing and claying my car, and then applying a coat of #7. I was wondering which wax would be better to use on my light colored car. Or could I layer them? What would the experts recommend?
I have tried NXT Tech Wax original and 21 2.0 (the new version) and simply do not get on with them. I have a white car and a black car ... on the black car, I find #7 and #26 to be perfect partners and on the white car, I have used #16 to great effect, as well as #20. The darkening effects I see with #26 do not translate well to lighter coloured cars, IMO, but TBH hardly anyone will notice a difference - beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to finishing your own car.
That's reading between the lines, but to answer your question outright: #26 or NXT on light coloured cars, I would not use #26.
I will add this, #21 2.0 on black is absolutely STUNNING IMO. #21 2.0 is my "go-to" product for black cars every single time and it leaves the most unbelievable high gloss and mirror-like effect that work can not possibly do it justice.
Just for the hydrophobic action of the nxt 2.0 I would lean to this. However I like the #26 also. It all boils down to what you think looks best to your eye.
For me, I love #26. NXT 2.0 would last a little longer thought. I personal wasn't happy with NXT 2.0 but a lot of people love it. I use #20 for the long New England winters since it holds up a little better. NXT 2.0 will most likely also hold up longer.
This is a black with #26. I think it gives more warmth than NXT 2. It depends what you like and I guess that's why they make different waxes/sealants. It's just my opinion, but I don't like NXT 2, to my eye it's not good on black, it's too sterile or plastic looking. In the end it's whatever pleases your eye.
I guess I will try a little bit of both and see which one looks best, and then go with two coats of that product. I do love the richness of the paint that the #7 has given.
Even though Meguiar's doesn't teach "layering", my newest favorite combo is #7, NXT 2.0 then M26. 12 hours later I wipe the car down with UQD, so I still have some hydrophobic properties. Every color I have used this combo on makes it look dripping wet.

Well, I currently have a coat of NXT 2.0 on the car, and I plan to try adding a coat of #26 tomorrow, like the above poster mentioned. I will report back my findings, with pics.

What color is your car? I think you'll like it no matter what though.

Midori. You can google it....96 Honda Civic Midori green paint. I'm trying to post pics, but it keeps saying a moderator will have to approve it before it's seen on the boards.
