  • Water filter system?

How would one go about distilling water for their washes? I would imagine you'd need quite a large reservoir and some sort of filter...

I'd want to use it for mobile washes as well, so something I can move.

Reason I'm asking about this is I'm sick of this new house's water... it spots like nothing else. My brand new black convertible top shows them quite well.... I hate it!!! I currently have no method to wash in the shade besides waking up before the clouds go away.

I don't think you would really want to 'distill' water. That's a big process I think.

For just filtering it you could check out this... Water Filter System

The popular one is see is the CRSpotless one.

Another option would be to find a 'water store' in your area. If you have your own container and a way to haul it you'd be set. You can buy all sorts of water from them and it's not very expensive. They do deliver too but I only see them delivering tanker trucks.

I use the CR Spotless system
I bought the DIW-10 model which is perfect to do onsite jobs if needed.

You could call a local water conditioning company and have them tell you what filters etc you need. Maybe you could put a whole house system in then be done with it.

I use the Spot Free system in my van. I decided to go this route because the maintenance costs were cheaper.

Most everything I looked at required you to buy their filters again and again(at $10-$20 a pop, this could get very expensive through the long term!). With the Spot Free system, you can use rock salt to recharge the system. Only costs about $2 for a 50lbs bag, and Ive been using the same bag for the last 1.5 years.

BTW, I have the 1000gal unit, and it works VERY well! I have a 90 gal tank in my van, so every 9-10 fill ups, and I recharge the Spot Free system.

Is that what you picked up? Looks to me like it would work out great! It works great, but does that mean it works perfectly? If you don't dry the car at all, would it spot? (obviously you would dry it... but you get the idea)

Looking back at their prices it would cost 600+ dollars to get started with that system, a tad pricey for someone just interested in personal vehicles and side gigs. I may have to go with the short term, uneconimical filters =)
