  • Detail Sprayer Bottles + Intro

    Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and already have a question that I would love to have answered.
Why do all of my detail sprayers bottles leak?

    Re: Detail Sprayer Bottles

I've never had one leak. I have 12 different ones and they never leaked. The only Meguiar's bottles that leak for me are the UQD bottles. Everyone so far.

The only reason some people get lost in thought... is because it is unfamiliar territory for them.

Are you referring to Quik Detailer?

How many bottles are you talking about? That is how many bottles do you have that have leaked?

The sprayer has a secondary inner liner and when the spray head is tightened it creates a leak-proof seal. As I type this I'm holding a bottle of Quik Detailer over my keyboard and watching to see if it leaks and so far no leaks. (lucky for my keyboard).

Could it be the sprayer just needs to be tightened?

            Hello and welcome to mol.

The only bottle That I have had leak on me was my fault. I dropped it. Otherwise I have never had a leaker. Knock on wood.

I did noticed this, as well. When I tried to turn my detail spray bottle upside down, it started leaking. But why would I use it upside down? This is not that big of an issue for me.

My first clay kit was packed upside down when I bought it, and had a very wet bag by the time I got home. I make sure to check every bottle I buy since, but only seen it happen that one time. Never bothered investigating why it leaked, just made sure not to turn it upside down after that.

I believe I read somewhere that the spray bottle trigger has a breather hole. There needs to be a certain amount of air going inside the bottle to help spray continuously. Otherwise the bottle would run out of air within a few pumps and you would get less product spraying out. I'm sure someone can explain this much better.

I have had many bottles leak, even after tightening them. Take them back to the store or call Meguiar's Customer Care center and they'll help you out.

Costco has some great 32 oz. wide mouth Delta sprayer paks. Dilution scale printed on the side. $5.68 for four.

I think this is called vacuum, that is if solid product that takes up space inside of a bottle is forced out and something else isn't allowed to come n and replace it then a vacuum is created and in the case of most spray bottles the flexible plastic walls of the bottle will collapse in.

To keep this from happening with an air-tight bottle and spray head you would have to loosen the spray head to allow air in or have a design to the spray head to allow air to leak in.

The science of bottle and spray heads can be as complicated as a person wants to make it, (Incorporate a one-way valve to enable air to leak in but no liquid to leak out and find a way to locate it on the bottle so it's not visible), or as complicated as the market will support.

I've had one leak when it was shipped to me and left upside down either on my porch, or in the UPS truck for an extended period of time. I called Customer Care and they promptly sent out a new bottle.
