  • Cheerleader Car Wash

I enjoy my truck looking nice and shiny so I use UQD or QD about every other day to get the dust off(It is outside all the time and is a DD). I used NXT Tech Wax about 2 or 3 weeks ago. One of my friends told me that he girlfriend was having a car wash to benifit the cheerleading team. So I thought I would go to be nice(my car was pretty clean to begin with). We also have a car wash that benifits a local church(the car wash is really good, they vacuum your interior the full nine yards and they do a great job for being kids). So I thought this would be similar to that, well I could not have been more disapionted, there were streaks on my windows water marks all over my truck. So when I got home I used QD all over my truck, but when I started it was very slow to qwipe on and off. Barry says when that happens its time to wax again, but I already waxed it 2 or 3 weeks ago it seems too soon. They washed with Armorall car wash. I washed my car today and the water beaded up like I still had wax protection. Do you guys have any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Re: Cheerleader Car Wash

if you want you can wax the car again..... if they used automotive car soap then it should be ok to leave it..... i'd be more worried about the washing equipment swirling up my car....

i would NEVER bring my good car to those fund raisers.... they most likely dont have a clue about proper automotive paint care so they may accidently cause damage.... they are more playing around than trying to do a proper job.... there is no one to go after for minor scratchs and heavy swirls that are quite common with these kinds of car washes because they arent going to have a lot of fresh mits, water, and towel to use on every car because im pretty sure they are more eco friendly than auto friendly and you are only paying like $5 so you get what you paid for....

if you want to go there to have cheerleaders wash your car then bring a beater so that you can have an enjoyable time without caring about the car....

exactly the kind of thing im talking about..... if you want to help your friend out maybe you should supervise the car wash and give the customers quality service which would create returning customers and also additional customers maybe.... but its pretty hard to make a profit having to have a costant supply of fresh wash mitts......

When I was in my school's marching band back in the day we had to participate in those car washes. I didn't know anything back then but we used cotton towels to dry them that we laid on the ground to dry, used dish soap to wash them, and the same bucket as long as we could. I still support the band who matter of factly are traveling to the Rose Bowl Parade this year but now I just throw them a twenty and keep driving.

                +1

I once heard a scary story of a school car wash where one of the dads had a gallon of windshield washer fluid that they used as the wash! They just used it like car wash concentrate.

In one of the classes Mike Phillips said "Drive by, give them money and keep going". Words to live by. Oh and don't goto your local "Wash and Scratch" either.

                      Re: Cheerleader Car Wash

My high school always had car washes and all I did was donate 5 bucks and drive away.

I work at a local wash and 3/4 of the cars are swirled. all my co workers ask me to wash my car at work and I said no. I see what those towls go through. Those towls will easily scratch paint. Some times a customer ask me what my work can use to get a few light scratches out and we don't have a scratch remover so I tell them to go to Kragen and get some Megs DC1 cleaner and some GC wax.
