  • Is this Marring or what?

    Hi Brothers,
I've a white 96 Toyota Camry and although it's recently waxed and appearance is somewhat slick, it lacks good reflectivity and clarity. You can see in the pictures. But in the last 2 pictures, you will see it also shows some good clear shadow when viewed from some angles. Is that marring or hazing or what? Sorry, I'm a newbie and so, please help me as simple as possible. If they are marring or hazing or whatever, how can I make them as clearly reflective as the cars on this forum? I've ordered PC with white pads and M80. Please suggest me if they can transform this car into a good one?

    Thanks,
    77

I can't tell by looking at the pictures if that's marring, it can be hard enough to see marring or hazing on white paint in person let alone in a pictures....

    Here's a simple test...

Get some ScratchX and in an area you see marring, take a clean foam applicator pad and rub some ScratchX to just a section of the area, maybe even 2-3 applications and then inspect and see if the area you worked looks better than the area you didn't work.

Marring is fine scratches in the surface of the paint, ScratchX is a paint cleaner that removes defects by removing a little paint and smoothing over the surface which restores clarity.

Anyway, it's a simple test and will tell you what the problem is.

Sorry If I'm so naive. Are there any other causes other than marring that may cause a paint's reflectivity & clarity? As this car is repainted 1 year ago, I don't think there won't be any problem with clear coat failure.
Thanks Mike, I'll try use ScratchX next time before waxing. But if there are other causes that can create a paint look like the above pictures, please help me know as I'm out of ideas.

      Thanks,
