  • Water on Car!! Wipe it or not?

    Hi Brothers,
After being a car crazy for about 1 month, I somewhat know that leaving water spots on the body can cause water edging and damage to clear coat. Again, Wiping the car body very frequently with clothes (clean/dirty) will also add swirls and marring to the paint, especially there is some dirt with the water.
So, In rainy season, almost every time, I come back home, there is more or less water on my car. Sometimes, it's very late and if I don't wipe the water, my car will have to sleep the whole night with these itchy water spots on it's body. So, I want to know whether it's a corect way to wipe every water spots on the body whenever they are present? If you wipe them everytime, do you just wipe them as they are OR First Rinse with clean water and then wipe them?
Steep Leaning Curve or I'm stupid. Help me again, bros,

    Thanks,
    77

What about wiping with a quick detailer?

If you were doing it every day, then wiping or dabbing with a QD would be ok.

Is there much dirt on the car, or just water?

Wipe with a quick detailer? U mean spray all those already wet areas with QD and wipe them with cloth? Why spray if the whole car is already soaked with rain/water? I also think you can't use QD every time you car is wet, right? In rainy season, you car is wet almost every time you take it outside and that's the reason I'm having a headache whether to wipe them everytime or not.

I mean water most of the time as when there's a lot of dirt, I usually rinse first with water.

          Thanks Bros,

Re: Water on Car!! Wipe it or not?

The reason to spray with the QD would be incase there was any dirt on the car, so you had some lubrication and hopefully the dirt wouldnt drag around.

If you think it is pretty clean, and it is just water on the surface, then you might be able to get away with just drying. Though in that situation, more of a blotting/dabbing technique would still be safer than wiping and dragging.

Have you ever heard of the AIRWAND by DETAIL PLUS? This unique tool will strip a vehicle of water in less than a minute. It is powered by a blower with 200 mile per hour velocity and 425 cubic feet of air per minute. Works very well.

If it is just water I would qd it. The lubricity of the qd will lift any dirt. This way you will minimize the potential to instill scratches.

The AIRWAND does not "minimize" the tendency to scratch it prevents scratching.

Why take a chance on scratches when blowing the water off is faster, safer and gets water out of cracks, crevices, inside the side mirrors, etc.

                  Just a thought.

                    Exactly my thoughts.

QDing water isn't as strange as it sounds. It can even help you wipe up the water more effectively.

if i were you, i would just park my car on an decent angle and call it a day, less water sitting on car= less chance of spotting. and keep its waxed well
