  • Another Newbie

Hello all, quick intro, my name is Bob and I am 21 years old and live in Illinois. I am a big Mustang fan and I currently own a Black 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1. I purchased the car a few months ago and have detailed the exterior by hand pretty intense only once, due to my time constraints. I am most likely going to be buying the G110 but am somewhat worried about burning up the paint. My car does not have horrible swirl marks or scratches, but it's enough to make me annoyed. Here's a pic of my old Bullitt I had:

I want to get the paint to that quality on the Mach 1. Should I purchase the G110 along with some MM80? What else would you guys recommend?

So far, I have the smooth clay bar, the Deep Crystal System, Steps 1 and 2, the Show Car Glaze (Number 7 I believe), and the Paste Wax. I used all of this on my car with some results, but not the results I would like. That is why I am looking into the G110. Any and all advice would be appreciated. I've been reading around and just want to make sure I get what I should.

    Thanks!

Welcome to MOL. Not many mustang fans on here
The G110 will be a great purchase, Autodetailingsolutions has some great prices on products and pads. I would get M80, D151 (this is a great one step, my new fav), NXT 2.0, M135, M40, All Season Dressing, APC, Clay... Ok I will stop it there lol

Hi and welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I would have to say YES to the G110, it's a life saver and the results you'll have are amazing no matter if you are a beginner or pro, they are great!

M80 I believe it would be a good start, since you have a Smooth Surface Clay Bar and M07 and some wax.

If you haven't, give this thread a good reading

Will I notice a difference if I use the G-100

        Hope this helps

Welcome. Definitely pick up the G110. You'll love the results and it's very safe and easy to use. You'll also want to get a few Meguiar's pads to go along with the buffer. As Sal329 suggested, check out Autodetailingsolutions. They have a few different polisher packages that are a really good deal.

            Re: Another Newbie

Thanks for the responses. And regarding there not being many mustangs, thats fine if it is true, I like sticking out haha (Although I know there's at least one Roush on here). And I will be purchasing the G110 most likely along with some M80 and D151. However, I am still a little unsure of what the order of use the products would be used. Obviously I'd start with washing, then drying, but then would I use the Paint cleaner I have, followed up with the clay bar, then the M80, D151, and then wax?

Also, has anybody used one of those "flimsy" squeegies to help dry their car? We have them at work for the ambulances but I do not know if they would damage the paint.

Don't use squeegies (more scratches) just microfiber and chamois...

                1 Wash/Dry
                2. Clay
                3. Paint Cleaner
                4. M80...(or other polish)
                5. ...
                6. ...
                7. Wax

Since everyone above covered just about everything. The only thing I can add is that when you detail the Mach take blue painters tape and tape off the stripes.

Thanks, I figured the squeegie would be a bad idea even though it was a very flexible one. Thanks for the steps as well.

I was wondering about the decals on the hood and doors. With the stripes on the hood, there is the little decal stripe, followed by the paint of the hood, then the big decal around the shaker. Should I use the G110 over the paints tape to get that paint strip in between the decals, or should I just do that strip or paint by hand to avoid the risk of pulling the tape up?

And thanks to everyone for the welcome.

                          Re: Another Newbie

I did mine by hand. I would say do it by hand just because it could have a chance at hurting the stripe with the G110. I would still tape it even if you do it by hand. My mach 1 has massive wax build up from the owner before me had it detailed at a car wash and they just went over the stripes and got wax built up to the stripe. Another good product for your detail. I use GC trim detailer for keeping my shaker looking its best. I also use it on all the plastic inside the engine bay. so far I have success doing that. Keeps all the plastic looking great.

How much does the GS110 vibrate seems like that would get old quick.
