  • Severe Swirls Help!!!

    Hello,

I have a black 2001 Honda Civic Sedan. It has Severe swirls. I have tried removing them with Microfiber clothes and Scratch X, but have not been successful. I really want to remove these swirls and make my car look its best. I will link you guys some pics if it helps. I would like to get Meguiar's products or others that you would recommend. I was told to try a buffer but I would like specific/exact help I guess. I have used Armor All Car wash products on this car for a while, but I my dad used beach towels and Dawn Dish Soap in the past. It needs help!

    Thanks, Matt

    Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

I am going to my local Car store later today, I am going to make a list of products to buy/order.

    -Meguiar's Car Wash
-Smooth Surface Clay Kit and/or Deep Paint Cleaner
    ------------------------------------------------
    - Dual Action Polisher
    - Soft Buffing Cutting, Polishing, Finishing Pads

Now which Pro Products should I get for the DA. The 105 Ultra Cut? Synthetic Sealant? Please help.

If someone could make me a detailed list, it would be great.

      Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

my dad used to wash my old car once in a while but i gave him such an unhappy face everytime he does that he knows not to touch my car..... i even try to hide his car wash stuff so he would stop doing harm to the rest of the cars..... tell your dad to just leave your car alone....

anyways here is a good list of products to begin with.... this will be good enough to tackle most typical paint for swirls and minor scratchs
smooth surface clay to remove all the dirt/contaminants that has stuck to the paint over the years
      dual action polisher G110
      W8207 pad to apply M80
M80 is a polish/cleaner which levels out the paint removing the swirls while rejuvenating the paint with polish oils
NXT 2.0 to seal in the polish and protect the paint
5 or 6 quality microfiber towels to wipe off excess polishs and wax
lots and lots of terry cloth towels.... you can get 60 for $20 at costco....

im not sure if 105 is suppose to be used with the G110..... may cause hazing if not properly used....

if you need more aggressive then you can use M83..... i think most of the honda owners on here got good results with just 80....

          Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

M105 with the DA is not recommended by Meguiar's. Some people have had great results but maybe in your case you won't have the same results.

Go with M80 Speed Glaze @ Speed 5, a lot of people have great results with it. Do a test spot and evaluate in the sun (the hole process), see the results and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the help, so don't use the 105, just the 80? Or the 80 then 83, then nxt.

Does the G110 come with any w8207's? Or should I buy one? Should I get 2 or 3, or just wash the same one?

              Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

you should get 2 pads at least so you are not stuck if you accidently drop a pad and need to toss it in the washing machine.... i would get 2 additional 8207 pads since it is a very versatile pad that can be used with lots of products.... it is good to have a few extra laying around

              the G110 comes with 1 8207 pad

                Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

if 80 cannot take out some of the tougher swirls then you would do 83 and since your car is black.... you would probably follow 83 with 80 because 83 may cause hazing.... 80 is less aggressive and leaves a finer finish than 83

                NXT is last

                  Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

I still have a bottle of ScratchX, should I try it w/ the DA before the 83?

Thanks again for the help. I think I am ready to do it, I read some other threads too.

                  Wash, Clay, 83, 80, nxt2.
Do you recommend removing this stuff w/microfibers or with the polisher?

                      Re: Severe Swirls Help!!!

Since you are limited on the pads that you have. I would use the microfibers to remove the product. Good luck.

My headlights are getting "cloudy." Does Meguiar's Plastx remove it?

What Else could I use PlastX on? Thanks

Checkout Auto Detailing Solutions online. They carry just about every Meguiar's product. I was just on there creating my own shopping list of supplies and they do carry the 8207's.
