I went to the store the other day and bought various Meguiars products. One product was the Mag and Aluminum Polish. I origanlly bought it for my Aluminum wheels, but it didn't work at all. So tonight I was doing stuff around my truck and decided that the fenders had serious tarnish and they needed to be cleaned. But every product that I have tried did not really help. So I decided to put some of the polish on the fender. I started to apply it to a small test spot and was instantly shocked. I had not even taken off the excess and realized that there was an amazing shine. All of the tarnish was gone!!! Thanks so much Meguiars. I love your products!!!

Re: Mag and Aluminum Polish
The Mag and Aluminum Polish is good stuff for sure! It works awesome! I just love the cinnamon smell too...
Are your wheels clear coated by any chance? When you attempted to polish them, did the polish on your rag turn black? If it didn't, they are probably clear coated.Lydia's Mobile Detailing

Re: Mag and Aluminum Polish
The rag did turn black. Although I think that I damaged the wheels because I use Bleeche White tire cleaner if you have heard of it. It says on the label to keep off of metal and aluminum wheels. There are all these scratches on the wheel. Do you think I should try scratch x or NXT Generation Tech Wax?Joel

If the rag did turn black then you are working on a non-coated wheel and I would just keep polishing them. It may take a lot of polishing to get them to where you want them, you might invest in a wool polishing ball, that will cut time and labor way down.
I don't think the Bleeche White would have caused the scratches but, I could be wrong. I'm sure the main reason for keeping it away from metal surfaces would be staining issues.

Re: Mag and Aluminum Polish
I polished for longer and still nothing happened. Although I do have medal caps on my wheels and I tried it on them and it worked great. Do you think I should try NXT All Medal Polish or a different all medal polish?Joel

Re: Mag and Aluminum Polish
Just to double check...
When you polish more and more to the same area, does your cloth get blacker and blacker?
This is a sure sign they are straight aluminum.
If you pull a little dirt at first and then your cloth doesn't get blacker and blacker this could be a sign they are anodized and if they are anodized then the only way to re-polish them is to have the anodize coating removed and that means taking them to an anodizing shop.
Can you share a picture?

Re: Mag and Aluminum Polish
Those are chrome steel wheels, I would give Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Polish a shot."The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." -Vince Lombardi
