If you notice those wheels come either chrome or polished aluminum. They certainly look aluminum to me, could possibly be saved.

The Baja is available in both chrome and aluminum (if anyone remembers my Wheel Brightener thread).

I have polished Baja's on my truck that shine like chrome.

Re: Need Help on Cleaning Wheel

Alright I figured Id go ahead and give a quick update. Got out of work early today but figures it starts down pouring. So waited till it died down and went to the local car wash. Busted out the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and just sprayed her real good pretty much let it soaked till it started showing signs of going dry and then I hit it with the pressure washer

I didnt do anything else and this is what that same wheel looks like.

First time using this stuff so I gotta say it had some decent results for just spraying and giving it a quick brushing. The pressure washer helped remove ALOT of that old dry brake fluid which is like a god send at the moment.

So this weekend If i can find time im gonna give it another good washing hoping to actually get the wheel off and take the mini powerball to it and hopefully get that shine back in that wheel again

Ill have more pics then. but figured it didnt hurt to show you guys some results

Use the polish and see what comes up on your applicator, if it turns black, they are polished, if they don't turn black, then they are either chrome or machine clear coated (not that I saw that option on their site).

If they are polished, that may be a good thing, you can polish out the rest or give another good scrubbing then polish. I saw a write up with Kevin Brown using M105 to polish up some stainless steel, worked great.

Keep us up to date, looks a ton better

Re: Need Help on Cleaning Wheel

Well I today didnt rain on my list of things to do were to try to get that wheel finished. I finally found my brushes that I couldnt find (had a recent move)
I went and did a little more work. Took the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner with my hot bucket of water, dedicated wheel sponge and brushes and made some real effort (honestly its the first time it really felt effortless)

and here is the results, still no polish yet.

I still have to use the mini powerball on it cause the circle parts of the wheel cause the brush im using doesnt have a strong bristle on it so hopefully this ball does that trick. Started raining so I couldnt finish so on Monday im hoping to finally get somewhere as in finally getting the wheel off and cleaning the back side.

Gotta question though after i use the polish I can go right ahead and do the wax right after?

Re: Need Help on Cleaning Wheel

To answer the prior question, if they are uncoated aluminum, the applicator should turn black still. The Hot Rims Mag/Aluminum polish is good stuff, may take more than one application and some passion behind the applicator. I would start with a terry cloth (cut up) then use a foam applicator on final pass and maybe do at least 2-3 passes. You can wax after that.

The wheel looks really good compared to what you started. I see that it has some pitting from the brake fluid. The only way to get that out if you had someone that could lathe them out if they aren't that deep and it would probably cost you more than a wooden nickel to get that out. I had a buddy get 4 wheels polished/true (check for bent wheels) for $225.00 here a year or so ago in So. Oregon (Medford). My wheels look terrible from clear coat chipping, mine were less than a 100 bucks and may just go the route of new ones and put these on my '64

                  Looking great though

That's cool too that it wasn't rust on the lip! That is what it initially looked like to me.
