when you dust off your car do you normally go over it again with a chamois?

I'm also wondering I just NXT'd my car yesturday and the day before. Today was the first day I used my California duster on it and it was failry dusty because it was just waxed and all so I dusted really lightly and then went over it with a wet chamois still feels smooth.

But did I bother the NXT at all? like I mean did I take any of the protectants off when I went over it with a California Duster and wet chamois? it will still last and all right?

lol I want my car to stay top notch can't you tell haha:P

It looks amazing and feels amazing.

I use an Ultimate Wipe with some quick detailer.

I've tried using the California Duster on the Pilot but it wasn't as effective as just wiping it down with Quik Detailer and a microfiber. I don't think it will hurt anything however.

My experience with the Cali duster has been very bad. They ( I have two) leave wax particles on the paint and glass. This collects more dust and smears when you try to wipe it off. Mine sit on the shelf. I use QD and lots of MF towels for dusting.

I'd also suggest that a chamois is an evil tool. It can easily trap grit and scratch the finish. I use a waffle weave microfiber for more protection.

My opinion is very similar to Mike's. I've used it (and use it) and it works pretty well but, I'm rarely satisfied with the overall result and thus, I end up using a QD and Ultimate Wipe to go over the entire vehicle.

Also, as a comment to the wax particles... you should allow the duster to sit on newspaper for several nights, moving it frequently. This will help to remove the excess paraffin that is impregnated into the fibers of the Cali Duster. Also, the dustier the duster gets, the better it seems to work for some reason.

Again though, going over the entire vehicle with a quality quick detailer like Final Touch, Final Inspection, or Quik Detailer is, by far, the best way to go.

FWIW, I tried that on three separate occasions to both dusters and the problem of the wax continued unabated. The newspapers were messy with the wax too. I even laundered one of them. I now only use QD & MF and prefer the way it works.

Sorry that didn't work out for you. I've had a couple of them (in various sizes) and it always worked out for me. Oh well...

None the less, the QD/MF way is the safest, most effective way to go...

I use the Calif. Car Duster (very lightly) to take off the bigger dust particles and then go over the car with a QD and a MF towel.

I followed the directions of leaving the duster on newspaper for several days, changing the paper out daily. No problems with wax particles smearing or left on the car surface.
A great finish begins with the right start!

Oh man don't bring up old memories. I had a dodge demon (just like a duster) with a 440 in it. I had to shift it with a tire iron and it had bald tires on it. Man those were the days.
