For those of you out there like me who don't hav a d/a polisher and want to remove scratches but scratch-x just isn't cutting it and you don't have a meguiars professional supplier near by I found something that works great!
I remember having some 3m rubbing compound from when I first got my car and used it to wetsand / polish my headlights.
My bottle is older than this but I saw they still have it at wal-mart in the car paint care sectio.
This stuff is very aggressive and will micromar but following it up with scratch-x works great!, I was able to get out scratches that I had not previously been able to and were deep enough to catch your nail, the bottle says its safe however it is very aggressive and I'm sure you can mess some stuff up with it.
For example I had one scratch that with scratch-x 6 applications didn't touch it however with only 4 applications of the rubbing compound it was nearly gone, I didn't complete remove it as I don't want it getting to thin and this was a heavy scratch.
I'll try to get some pics of another scratch on monday with test results.
So if your like me and don't have a d/a and your paint is old and very hard this worked very well for me, just remember be carefull and follow up with scratch-x.
